2751  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / finishing quilt question? on: December 20, 2009 03:16:54 PM
I am getting ready to finish up my first quilt. I am not using binding as I kind of bought the material and started working on it before I learned much about quilting.  Embarrassed I am going to stitch and flip but I am not sure if I should sew the batting with the edges or wait and stitch it with the top after I flip it. I hope that makes sense.

2753  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Broadcloth? on: December 01, 2009 12:11:29 PM
Thanks for the help. I went ahead and ordered the broadcloth last night. It was on sale for $1.19-$1.79 a yard and I didn't want to miss it. Hopefully it will look okay. It is going to be my first one so I'm not sure how it is going to turn out anyway.  Cheesy I making solid black curtains and they are mainly for decorative purposes so I think that will work.

I need some fabric help please. I am making a quilt and some curtains. Would it be okay to use broadcloth for this, it is 65% cotton/35% polyester? I am also planning on using printed iron on pictures on the quilt, would that work on broadcloth? I know nothing about fabric types.  Embarrassed

Another awesome afghan! I really admired your patience and skill to do these. Could you tell me about how much yarn it takes to make one?
