1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / abstract halloween costume on: December 20, 2009 10:44:10 AM
Last year I decided to make my own costume, but had no direction whatsoever, so I wound up with this.

An abstract interpretation of a skeleton perhaps? I added uneven, different colored tulle to the bottom after taking these pictures.
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / shirt to purse(s) on: December 20, 2009 10:38:54 AM
So I was looking through my pictures and found these, which I didn't post.

I made these about two or so years ago, following this tutorial:

The last one I bleached the image onto a plain shirt. Hope you all like them! C & C welcome.
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Hemp Sister Bracelets on: December 20, 2009 09:14:00 AM
I made these yesterday for a friend who will be giving them to her sisters for Christmas.

I thought they looked pretty decent considering I can't use one of my thumbs right now (read: cut part of it off) and I have a sprained wrist.
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / No brain, Tom Waits on: January 19, 2009 06:00:52 PM
The second attempt at this shirt for my brother for Christmas. I got it from the cover of Idiocracy.

Tom Waits, for my boyfriend on Valentines day.

Bad pictures, i'm just getting used to my camera.
5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Sunflower field. on: February 18, 2008 06:27:11 PM
A sunflower field for art class.

There is a sky, it's just so light the flash made it look like there isn't.
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Art Project: Dream on: January 28, 2008 07:57:22 PM
I'm in a highschool art class, advanced, if you must know. Hah! Anyways, for one of our projects we had to write down our dreams for two weeks and then paint one of them. This actually wasn't one of the dreams I had those couple weeks but one that just stuck with me. I had a dream I was falling after jumping in a state of desperation. Mid-way I had changed my mind in the dream but it was complete chaos and there was no way to take it back. The crazy colors are supposed to represent the chaos and emotions I felt. When I neared the ground everything became a surreal calm, which they greys represent. When I landed no one in my dream noticed, and I could feel the pain in my legs from landing but it didn't kill me, and oddly enough I walked away with only some scratches to my mental and emotional state of being. Now that i've explained... here it is!

Excuse the bad photography. I took the picture on my bed before I brought it over to my friend's house.
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Christmas Candy Jars... and a Tree! on: December 02, 2007 05:48:28 PM
My budget has been really tight this year (read: nonexisent), so I decided to go with something kinda cheap for all my friends but something that still has that home made feel. I decided to make hot cocoa jars after allrecipes. After some experimenting and the help of my sister I wound up woth some pretty cute gifts.

I had extra jars so my mom filled them with candy and I decorated them. Some more cute, cheap, and quick gifts!

(The ones in the front.)

To bring my story to a close though, I have to first show you what all this creativity led to. I saw a picture on here, (too bad I couldn't find it again, otherwise I would totally credit them) and decided I had to try it out. It was a...

..candy Christmas tree!
I just went off memory of what I saw so it may not be all that similar, but I like it.
8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / needs help with applying the paint techniques. on: October 30, 2007 05:32:11 PM
So I made this way cute (in my opinion) stencil and i went to apply it and everything and it was alright... Except that the paint is terribly uneven and gross. Well, not too gross but totally uneven. Is there any specific brushes/techniques i should know about? I used a regular paintbrush and acrylic/textilemedium mixture. This is what it looks like:

Any suggestions?
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Bleach stenciling? on: September 07, 2007 10:33:47 PM
My friend's birthday just passed and i want to make her a purse.
I already know the pattern I want, it's from here, actually. The
thing is she wants a blue purse and i wanted to bleach out a large flower design onto
the shirt before i reconstruct it. I aldready have the bleach pen and an idea but
i have a few questions. How do i set the bleach once it's at the stage i want
it, and do i wash it immediately after? Help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Update:
So I tried my hand at the bleaching using tips and techniques i gathered from
Craftster and other websites. It took a while and the stenciling was pretty
difficult to cut out. Overall though I love the way it turned out.
I bleached a shirt and then used this tutorial. Overall I think it was a pretty
sucessful attempt. My friend loved it, which is what i was aiming for!
