1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / My first coil vase! on: January 26, 2009 08:34:31 PM
Hey guys!
This is my first time venturing to post in this section of the forum.
The glaze I used was Jensen Blue.
It would be bluer but it got removed from the kiln rather quickly.
Here I present to you, my first coil vase!
Enjoy!

Details of swap:

This swap is different than past Fill a Mug swaps.
In this swap, you will choose a mug (of average size) for your partner and fill it to the brim with little gifts.
This is meant to be a low budget swap, so there is a three point limit on extras. (Optional gifts you send to your partner to spoil them)
This is a four-point swap.  You will be making four smalls to fit into your mug:
3 pts = large
2 pts = medium
1 pt = small
The Craftster guidelines for item sizes:
LARGE:  3 or more hours, $30 or more (a shawl, a shirt, a skirt, a set of jewelry with four to five items, a purse)
MEDIUM  = 2 to 3 hours, $10-$30 (a scarf, a simple bag)
SMALL  = less than 2 hours, less than $10 (earrings, a wallet)

These size guidelines are very subjective, so, as always, work with your partner to decide how much to send.  Be sure to agree on the amount of time, money, and effort you want to spend for this swap.    If you or your partner want to make something that requires more time or effort than we usually think of for a large item (something with couture details, for example), this point system gives you a little wiggle room.  But PLEASE be sure to consult with your partner!

* As of recent we will not be accepting swappers with negative feedback.

*In this swap you will be:
- PMing me when you and your partner send and receive.
- Keeping in contact with your partner.
- PMing me or the co-organizer bubblegum_phoenix with any questions
- Posting pictures of what you receive

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Fill-a-mug swap on: November 01, 2008 11:29:09 PM

Any one up for a fill a mug swap?
I want to organize it, but not until after Christmas.
It will be a small swap. Smiley
You would fill a mug to the rim with your partner's goodies with a limit of 3 points of extras.

This would be good for some first-time swappers out there.

Anybody in for it?

6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Did I strike gold? on: July 17, 2008 06:47:01 PM
So last night I come into my room (At my father's house, which I hadn't been to in a while) and what do I find on my dresser? An identified overflowing sewing box!! My dad loves garage sales and had picked this little treasure up for me.
I looked inside, preparing to see the regular needles, thread, et cetera. I did... but there was more to it.
I looked at the needle books and they looked really old!
I've come to a conclusion that they only way a person would give it away would be to die. And I think this box belonged to an old woman. I'm not sure if these are just regular products and I'm just so excited that I believe they're worth more than they are.. but...
here's some of what I found:
- Thimbles from england, germany, and more.
- Old fashioned english needles that are either steel or nickel, and "bonita brand surperior elliptic gold eyes sharps!" (Needles)
- An antique-looking measuring tape holder thing. Made in England.

There's a lot more but I was wondering if I could get an opinion on this.
Please?  Grin
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Hippie swap (Organizer found!!!) on: June 10, 2008 02:31:48 PM

How about a hippie swap?

Since my first swap is wrapping up now, I realized I'd want to join a new swap.
The only swap I'd wanted to join was the one I'm in, cupcakes, and hippies!
I can't have cupcakes so at least I can have hippies!

So what do you all think?
Yes?
No?

EDIT: ORGANIZER FOUND: Awesome-tastic Samsara!!!
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Sexy pillowcase top on: November 10, 2007 09:38:16 PM
I whipped this up this morning, I thought I needed a new top.
$.50 top - good, no?

I would LOVE comments and feedback! I'm quite the novice.
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Stronger? on: October 21, 2007 12:34:20 PM
I've heard that knitting/crochet increases dexterity.

I haven't really noticed my fingers getting stronger except for the fact my fingers get sore after a few hours of crocheting.

Do you think you have strong hands/fingers? Any instances with them?

:]
