Couldn't resist... Badges are fun!

Yesterday I received the photobook I ordered! I want plenty of time to get the package in order and I just know the last couple of weeks will fly past... I snagged a nice and large box at work today. Maybe a bit too large, but it's a start. I can probably fill it, and if it turns out too large I'm sure the kitties will love sitting in it, heh...

On sunday we had a little adventure! Here we are waiting for the bus early in the morning. Public transport is great! With a busride to the commuter train and just one stop to change to another commuter train I can get to Uppsala. My sister picked me up at the train station and we drove to a small place called Österbybruk for their annual wool market.

There were plenty of vendors, but also classes, exhibitions and talks. We managed to have a lot of fun despite the rainy weather. It poured down as we pulled into a parking spot, but soon clamed down. We could also spend some time indoors or under a roof.

Värmland and Jämtland are two Swedish sheep breeds. Jämtland is a merino-mix breed bred for Swedish conditions. Super soft! Värmland sheep is an old Swedish breed that almost went extinct, but there are around 4000 of them now thanks to careful breeding.

I actually didn't buy any yarn, but I was very inspired to start knitting something with the two lovely hanks of dark grey Gotland lambswool yarn I have at home. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotland_(sheep))

I love this artwork! Each square is made from a different technique (I'm guessing by different people too) and it's all natural wool colors.

All in all a great day!

I'll probably try to design and order a photobook since that will probably look better than anything I can cobble together myself. I will make (have started) a small scrapbookish thing too, but it's not super fancy...

I guess I should be thankful life craziness happened *before* I claimed anyone and not after... Not sure I'll find time to claim this month, but I guess I'll just try again next month in that case. It's nearly august! Insane!

Geocachers are pretty sneaky... You probably have at least a couple caches in the area Smiley

Question to the seasoned visitor swappers: when do you normally start printing photos and working on the scrapbook?

I thought our adventuring would slow down a bit after my vacation was over, but I had two days off in the middle of the week so I went all in and planned a geocache adventure.

When we finally got to the area I had checked out (yeah, I'm not the best att navigating while driving) we started walking towards the first cache. We found these guys on the way!

The cache ended up being in that pasture behind a little hill and since I didn't fancy climbing an electric fence we just admired the set up from the other side of the fence before moving on. The caches were from a large geocache event last summer and they're super fancy.

Here we are on our way up a hillside to the next cache. It was just too pretty not to take a photo of.

This was our reward at the top! Geocaches always contain a guestbook of sorts for finders to write name, date and sometimes a bit more in. That flag is the log/guestbook! You can see a bunch of names on the flagpole. I told you the event-caches were fancy.

We continued over/across the wood covered hill and after much adventure we found another cache. This one was painted gold and filled with 50-öre coins. (It's half a SEK and so small a denomination they're not valid for payment anymore)

In the next one we found a mysterious note with the logbook... It's written in a scout chiffer and when I translated it at home it was a line from a song. (This one: https://g.co/kgs/adWfLM ) The visitors before us had written in the logbook that they found it by chance.

The last cache featured Karlsson-on-the-roof. Most of the ones we found were from the event that had an Astrid Lindgren theme. We had to get him down from a tree to find the cache. McCoy took a celebrity selfie before Karlsson "flew" back up.

I decided to join again. It's been a while... This used to be my favourite swap when I was a student. I could pick claims I had lots of supplies for and that I knew wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to ship Grin

Hopefully it will work well for picking what to craft on my free time in between working too.

La Chapa, it is never too hot for yarny stuff. NEVER!

I'm currently knitting some kind of hair wrap thing in a lovely recycled cotton/silk/rayon yarn. I needed it the week before last week when I was sick of my hair blowing everywhere...

I've dusted off my watercolors so might beable to claim some art. I'm still a bit rusty, but it's fun.

It's a creme caramel. Vanilla custard in the bottom, and then blowtorched sugar, and on top of that a fruit salad with strawberries, orange and lime zest. It was very nice!
