41  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Head/Neck Swap Gallery on: July 13, 2005 02:43:17 PM
I received a really nice package from giggleycraft a few days ago -- I took a pic, but my hubby has put the cable for the camera somewhere, so I'll post ASAP...

She sent me a tie-died bandana-scarf thingy (really pretty); a super-cute summery necklace-earrings set (silver flowers and lime green beads); and a huge jar of homemade lipgloss that smells like chocolate and has an awesome sheer brown color.  Thanks so much, giggleycraft!

BTW, my package is done and is going out tomorrow.  Sorry for the delay  Embarrassed

Well, I took a pic of my stuff, but my hubby has done something with the USB cable for the phone.  Grrr... So, I'll post pics ASAP, but I wanted to go ahead and acknowledge the completely awesome package that kat_penguino sent me, inspired by the book "Bread and Jam for Frances".

There is a blank notebook (which I'm already using) where the front and back covers look like the front and back covers of the book; 2 bookmarks featuring pics and a couple of the little songs that Frances makes up; 2 magnets with pics from the book; a stuff felt bread and jam!; some actual jam!

Thank you thank you for such a great package!

I got an awesome package from my SC the other day -- she sent me COOKIES  Grin

I took pics of everything, including some stuff from before that I haven't posted pics of, and now my husband has done something with the USB cable for the camera.  Grr...

The cookies were inside a really cute tin with torn paper on the lid (my friend and I are just starting a decoupaging-tins obsession, too) and also there is a little relaxation pillow thingy -- you know, it has stuff inside that smells really good, and you can lie down and put it over your eyes and smell it and it's relaxing.  Ahhh...

Thanks, SC!

bkrenning, I have your journal -- I was writing in it last night, in fact.

I have not had time to do any Craftster stuff in about 2 months, and it makes me feel so rotten, I haven't even been reading here much, because it makes me feel like crap to know I'm holding up stuff.

But I just started a new job, one that hopefully will not make me exhausted and depressed all the time, like my last job.  I hope to send bkrenning's journal off to silloh_77 tomorrow.

+ third street stuff and cafe...this place is impossible to miss when you drive by it, and they have awesome stuff...downtown

Third Street and North Limestone.  I like this place, too, it's a nice place to hang out and have some tea.

+ coffee times coffee shop...omg this place is so cool. they have a store side with awesome purses, jewelry, and other stuff and a coffee/tea/smoothie bar on the other side...i'm really not sure where this is...it's in one of those shopping center things. it's by that giant wildcat, though, if that helps anyone

The coffee here is terrible -- I used to work there, and I can tell you that they serve whatever is the oldest stalest stuff that they want to get rid of.  But the little shop is cute and has cute stuff.  It's on Regency Road, which is off of Nicholasville Road and Pasadena.

Also on Regency Road, a place I cannot say enough good things about, Pet Paws Self-Serve Dog Wash.  What an awesome idea and super-nice people.  It makes washing your dog almost fun.

+ graeter's....one in palomar, one in tates creek center...that's all i can think of right now

Also  Romany Road near downtown (in Chevy Chase).  Hubby and I have been semi-addicted this summer.  Must... stop... going... to... Graeters...

+ holly hill inn....a delicious restaurant in midway....about 30 minutes from lexington

This reminds me about Flag Fork Herb Farm, on North Broadway, which is a delightful place to have lunch.  You should call ahead, because the dining room is small, but it's not hard to get into.

+ seki's...a really good sushi restaurant downtown, but extremely hard to get into

Miiyako is also good for sushi and other Japanese food, though pricey (sushi is always pricey, though).  On Richmond Road, near New Circle Road.

I did, but I didn't have computer access over the weekend.  I was gonna write you today, but you beat me to it!  I took pics last night, and hopefully will be able to post in the gallery tonight or tomorrow.

I LOVE EVERYTHING!!!!  It made me so happy to pull everything out of the package!!!!!  This was such a great idea for a swap!  I was so excited that you used Frances's little songs, hee hee  Grin

Ugh, I'm embarrassed to send out my pics, but they're going out tomorrow.  Sorry for the extra-long delay.

I did not use a digital camera, because "our" digital camera really belongs to my husband, so I didn't want to carry it around in my backpack for a month.  I used disposable cameras, and I knew the quality would not be gallery-level, but I had no idea they would turn out as bad as this.  When I was taking them, they seemed great and colorful and arty, and they came back dark and blurry and washed-out and crappy  Angry

I hope my partners at least think they're interesting, if not beautiful.  I don't know what the problem was, I mean, I did used to take pictures before the days of digital cameras.

Thank you for trusting me Embarrassed

I've had a lot of crap come up with my job the past several weeks.  The good news is that I got a NEW job, which will be a lot more fun and a lot less stress, and give me a lot more time for crafting!  I start next week!

I'm REALLY REALLY REALLY sorry, guys, I know it's all waiting for me.  I did finish, finally, and it's going out in the mail tomorrow (I don't have a car today).  Here it is:

Boy, have I gotten a lot of crafting mileage out of a stack of 1973 Woman's Day magazines from eBay.  I've used them for everything!

Mrsbenjimadden reminded me that I never posted about the BEAUTIFUL pin I got from veludo.  I did PM her about it, but forgot to show everyone else.  I will try to get a better picture, but for now, you can see it here:

It's a gorgeous big vintage button with little flowers dangling below.  I love it!!

Thanks again, veludo!  Grin

I got an absolutely gorgeous book today from Orchid -- thank you so much!  All the PURPLE photos are so artsy and cool.  I feel now that my photos are lame... but they all have a little story to them, sorta...

I will try to scan some at work, if I can sneak it.  They really are great!
