IQJones is now thinking "what is it with you and the toasters??"
On the issue of boards, you can buy some fairly heavy cardstock at scrapbook stores that is 12x12, which would be really easy to cut into 9 pieces and easy to keep it even and easy for us all to start with the same basic size, so everything would be sure to match up when mixed up. I guess it wouldn't work well if someone wanted to use oil paints or something, though. It would be easy to cut, though...
Hey, guess what!! I got 4 journals from hijole! I know you're all anxious to get your journals back, and I'll try to be expeditious, but I don't want to rush, either. They all look SO COOL! You will love them! It will be worth the wait! I got mine back, too, and I want to thank everyone for working in it. Just to whet your appetite, here are some random photos:
I will tell you that the beautiful Christmas scene is in MY book! And I will take more pics of it later.
AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! My partner kitschlover kicks ass!!! I have to tell you, I have the SAME booklet that these pictures came from -- well, I think I have maybe a different year or something, because my book has the same style of pictures, but not the same pictures that you used! The Metropolitan Cook Book (as in Metropolitan Life Insurance). I've been dying to do something crafty with those pictures for years, because I think they are the cutest cartoon foods I've ever seen, but I've never gotten around to it! Check it out:
framed pic for my kitchen wall and adorable napkins! I love it love it love it! Thank you so much! Are the napkins made of a sheet or something? I would love to make more of them to go with, although it looks like maybe you have a serger?
Oh, and in the framed pic, coincidentally 2 of my favorite things are tea and pie, and I think a pie getting a pie in the face is hilarious, because, well, I'm that way.
I got a beautiful mermaid from jessicakes! My favorite part is the tiny spiral shell she wears as a bindi on her forehead
Also a lovely pair of earrings with blue beads and tiny shells. Thanks, jess! And...um... I just noticed that I didn't really choose the most attractive backdrop for my model... My craft room contains the laundry closet...
Excellent stencil! I used that very same metallic pink paint the only time I have tried the embroidery-hoop silk-screen process as described elsewhere on Craftster. I have not gotten up the gumption to try stenciling yet.!
I think my fabric was too finely-meshed because I had to go back over a lot of it with a paintbrush, but it came out great anyway. The band loved it, which is what I REALLY wanted
Here, finally, are some pics of the awesome stuff I've received from my SC. I actually took photos a while back, but my hubby accidentally deleted them, so that's a lesson learned not to procrastinate. I tried to gather everything back up as best I remember -- if I've left anything out, it's because I'm using this stuff and it's around my house!
Swell mosaic frame and gorgeous gorgeous crocheted chenille scarf (also in this package was the rest of the brown yarn and a cute cell phone pouch)
box o' supplies! Yay! As you can see, I have already started making something with the yarn!
fabulous beaded votive holders in my fave color, and amazing desk accessories featuring my adorable doggies. I love this so much! Um, there was also more chocolate, which is long gone
Thanks again, SC, and I'll be much better about sharing photos, I promise!
blackstar, I think your hair is BEAUTIFUL, but I also know the feeling of just wanting to do something different! I have short hair myself, and I love it. I think you have very pretty eyes and a pretty face, so you could definitely wear short hair. I mean, honestly, I think anyone can wear short hair -- I myself am oldish (36) and chubby with no neck, and I wear short hair
I think something like this would be nice:
I realize the woman in this picture is older than you, but I think the style would be pretty -- nice and loose yet still natural. It gives you the choppy down-in-the-face look of the 2 pics you posted, and you could even do a cut that is like this on top and front, but shorter in the back and sides, like in those pics, which I think would look super-cool. You'll have to post a pic and show us what you decide!
