21  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / My elven costume on: August 15, 2013 02:41:10 PM
A bit picture heavy... Sorry >.<

This autumn I will be going to a larp as the elfish "dreamer". She has the ability to predict the future and mainly stays put in one place all the time which means that for ones I get to play a classical elf-in-the-wood who doesn't have to have 100% practical clothes to be able to get around without getting caught in everything in the forest. Sooo-I present to you my first classical full-length elvish costume ^^ Jay.

As always I can point out sooo many things I am not pleased with, but I shall try to focus on the whole and say that I like it.

So, here she is.
I really like the absurd length of the sleeves, even though weaving the hem on them took forever.

Close up on the details. I card weaved them both in the same pattern but in different colours)

The dress is only closed halfway down, so it opens up on an underskirt with some light embroidery in the lower front.

close up on the embroidery (I am really lousy at decorating stuff and have never embroidered like this before)

Close up on the embroidery along the neckline

I wanted the costume to fit all kinds of weathers, so in case of colder days I also have additional sleeves/half gloves knitted in wool

And for the cold nights I of course have a cloak

For warmer days the entire sleeves of the dress can come of

aaaand sleeveless from the back.

what do you think? I could sort of pull it off, right?

Pinkleo: That is a sh*t load of squares! Good job! And I love the colours!

CraftLadyMJ: Your wands are so adorable =)

ntrebleagain: I love those ties! I really don't like jewellery at all, cause I have some weird ocd-like issues with metal in contact with skin. But those really really rocks! So much I actually kind of want one. Which is to say a lot ^^

Class/Challenge/House Pride: August detention
House: Slytherin
Project Name: From the sea we came
Brief Description: So, I have gotten my role for the elf-larp I am going to this autumn, and it turns out my role is an outside elf from the seaside, so I decided to make an underskirt to go with my OWL-dress, with some light embroidery inspired by waves on it. It is folded up in the photo, so you can only see parts of it,but I will take better pictures later when posting my OWL I think...

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Qudditch- chaser
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Packed and ready
Brief Description: I always find bags to be very useful when out camping. To keep your crafting things, your hygiene-products, your candy. Your precious precious candy.... My preciousssss.....
(anyways, such dull simple bags, but I am really satisfied with the design I made which allowed them to be so very fast and easy to make (pretty much 10 min/bag), and still have them all lined and perfect in the finish.)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Qudditch- Haversacking
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Finally!
Brief Description: Sooo.... I cut out the fabrics for this  cloak about 3 years ago. And made the terrible mistake of putting them together-allowing me to sort of be able to use it, as long as I pinned it together with a kilt pin. Big mistake, since that made it so much easier to be lazy and never have the motivation to finish it of in order to be able to properly use it. And let me tell you- 5 meters of hand stitching a frakking hem is not something you long to just pick up and finish. So in the end I pulled myself together, brought it along for a board game day with some friends and finally started working on  it. I assume it was my innocently, ladylike stitching that made no one even considered the possibility that I was a cylon. Need I say I killed those humans and totally won the game?
Anyway: What I did was hand stitch a sort of collar, attaching a closing-thingy and hemming the entire thing. Phew! So glad it is finally done! (and I shall get better pictures of this too eventually. I promise. My camera sucks...)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Qudditch- Beater
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Wood for the woods
Brief Description:  I wanted my elf to be a weaver, so thus I want to bring along a weave, but not have to have it attached to myself as I usually do (putting it up between my foot and waists, forcing me to remain still). So I built this really simple sort of portable loom to bring with me. Most of the time was spend on cleaning the wood up, clearing it from twigs and the likes, and sharpening the pieces that goes in to the ground.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Charms
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Worth the blisters
Brief Description: When working on my loom I realised that the random fallen branches I had picked up at the forest outside our house was a gorgeous piece of wood that simply begged to be used for something. So I made my very first attempt ever at wood carving. As you can see the result is crude to say the least, and very unpretty but considering I wasn't allowed to use my wand I am immensely proud that the end result is actually something usable at all! These knifes are for butter and honey.

ErinAquahearts: I am so, so, so sorry for you. My thoughts, my heart and my prayers are with you. Thank goodness you still have the heart to still craft, because such shocking news and being stuck in the hospital can really kill the spirit stone dead. There are no words big enough to fit the situation. All I can say is: that sucks. like, unsiversal-size suck.
Your jello-drawing however really rocks =) And your mug too, but the jello just made me smile ^^
(the red colour is for love and strenght<3)

noodle-bug: those banners are frakking gorgeous! I am in awe of your (and your friend's) skills!

badwolf314: your bookshelf rocks

pottermouth: Alton's tale is just... <3 And as far as my tardis stencil goes I stole the idea from something I saw on the internet, so please do continue the noble line of stealing^^

TooFewShoes: Welcome!

Pinkleo: I was wondering.. can one turn in Spew-items only to get spew credits, without them actually belonging to any certain class/challenge?

tiamatfire: I love your sweater! I wish I had the patience for such works because that one was really beautiful. I love cable knitted stuff!

patty_o_furniture: I love your hunger games doodle! And the chocolate swirl..... merlin'sbeard!I need that one! Now!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Herbology
S.P.E.W: Women's shelter
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Meet Cherie
Brief Description: we got this old skirt donated to us, and it reminded me  so much of cherry blossom in the colouring and pattern, and we just knew that we needed to make a bunny out of it. So I did. Actually there will be a few bunnies from this skirt, but this is the first one
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch-Cobbing
S.P.E.W: Women's shelter
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Sharpen your ears
Brief Description: This little fellow might not have very pointy elbows, but she her ears are lethal. Just look at all the skulls she has tattooed in her ears- one for each teddy she has killed!
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch-Bumphing
S.P.E.W: Women's shelter
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Cuddle friend
Brief Description: This on is made out of children's clothes, and will be used to comfort children to. Honestly, is there any better protection in the dark night than someone to hold on to?

25  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: The T in t-shirt is for Tardis on: August 06, 2013 12:49:33 AM
What a brilliant shirt!

P.s. you do know that the angel really has got the phone box! Peter Capaldi (the newly announced next doctor) played the Angel Islington in Neverwhere!

OMG! This must be one of moffats new crazy evilness! Getting an angel to pretend he's the doctor. Merlins bear, the time vortex! An angel in a tardis! Reality as we know it might collapse and have to reboot itself! Again...
26  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Bountiful Booties on: August 05, 2013 03:28:38 PM
I started making these a while back, to sell in a project to raise money for a women's shelter. I make them out of left over bits of yarn and then the entire profit of the things can go straight to the women who needs our help. Neat huh?
Anyway, I thought I'd show you because I simply adore this pattern (not made by me, but I have gotten special permission from the amazing creator to sell them for the good cause).

aren't they adorable?
27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / The T in t-shirt is for Tardis on: August 05, 2013 03:20:28 PM
I found this really comfy organic t-shirt at a store and knew right away that it needed to be turned in to a proper pieces of clothing, so I re-fashioned it a bit to suit my tastes ^^

28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Organic pants on: August 05, 2013 03:17:49 PM
I found this lovely organic cotton fabric at a store and felt right away that I had to do something with it. At first the pattern felt a bit too insane for an entire clothing, but I quickly realised that if I added black details the thing was much more muted and lovely. So, I threw these pans together rather quick. My favourite design for pants so far- big enough to be comfortable, but not so big that they get impractical when biking etc. Also, they have huge pockets so I can fit big bottles and my tablet in them wherever I go ^^

What do you think?
29  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: HP Craftalong ~Summer Semester 2013~ *Join at any time!* on: August 05, 2013 01:33:04 PM
noodle-bug: I really love your hoops, especially the one with all the buttons. So very lovely! And the portkey is just charming =)

pottermouth: Your octapus is to die for! And really, my weaving is so very simple compared to your magic with those cuties!

Ant bee: I -love- all your little texts here and there. Announcments, birthday songs, sneaking around... it  makes me smile so much. <3<3<3

midkiffsjoy: No, I am not in SCA. I just to be in a very small local re-enactment group where I lived before, but not anymore. And my dresswould be hated by ay re-enacters here as it is completley in-acurate in so many ways. But that's the beauty of fantasy larping- one can do whatever one wish to. ^^ Also: your Hinkypunk-bottle rocks! I want it! now! How did you to that?! And that sweater has got to be one of the best nerdy things I have ever seen.

GiberAlchemist: your quilt is so very beautiful! Good job

Moonflame: I have never before seen apple cozies like that, but by Merlin you've made me want one now. that is just too adorable! And thank you too, for the nice comment. The weave turned out way wonkey and stuff (due to the quality of one of the threads) but other than that I am pleased with the result =) Right now I am embroidering, and I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel ^^

Teag: that egg is so amazing O.O I would never ever be able to do anything like that! and the document holder is both beuatiful and smart! I need to make something like that...

AnnoyingBigSister: your dragon is so beautiful! Wish I could sculpt like that =)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Qudditch- Keeper
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Saving the breakfast
Brief Description: I reaped my first batch of own grown cucumbers this week, and decided to make a certain pickled kind that we eat here a lot, so the hosue clearly needed it's own stock (only one jar shown on the picture though). Cucumbers are green. Green is cool. Just sayin' ^^
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Qudditch- blatching
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Good food doesn't need any other flavours
Brief Description:Yesterday I made my first complete dinner out of only selfgrown stuff (my first year playing at agriculture). Apart from the sauce and salt everything in the meal is 100% my own stuff, grown from seed to ready meal- making this a combined result very much. First I grew all the stuff, then I cooked it ^^ What you see are potatoes with a steamed mix of beans (a special nordic kind we call "farmer's bean. It's a very old, cultural thing), peas, carrots and onions. On the side there is a sallad of tomatoes, sallas, suger snaps and pickled cucumber. It tasted sooo good, even thoguh I am a lousy cook and did nothing but boil/steam and put some salt on them.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Qudditch- quaffle pocking
S.P.E.W: Women's shelter
House: Slytherin
Project Name: I'm holey Fred!
Brief Description:
Project Picture:
So, I made another pair of these. Because I like them, and they have holes ^^ (for the shoe laces, and for the foot)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Qudditch- stooging
S.P.E.W: Women's shelter
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Here we go again
Brief Description: By now these are getting ridiculously easy to make... Could probably manage in my sleep. Just flicking my wand and mumbling some well practiced words
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Bertie Bott's- Chili
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Cool me down
Brief Description: Now, I know what you are all thinking. How one earth could a simple smoothie take half an hour to make? Well, you try picking off berries to last for smoothies (and such) for the entire winter and tell me how long it takes. And I didn't even get to use my wand! I have been picking litres and litres of this stuff. BY HAND! Stupid muggle ways *mutters*
(Red current- smoothies.  Soooo worth the work!)
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Qudditch- Seeker
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Something old, something new...
Brief Description: If you are asking yourself now "what is so golden about a blue box on a grey t-shirt?" then I am sorry, but you are simply not worthy to come inside and see for yourself. Come on, is there any better gold than the heart of the Tardis?
I found this really comfortable oragnic t-shirt and just new what I had to do with it. The T in t-shirt is for Tardis. didn't know that, now did'ya?
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - cheering
House: Slytherin
Project Name: Green drinks
Brief Description: You need to drink a lot to cheer on your team, or at least my throat goes soar from the screaming. Don't yours? But there are so few good green drinks out there, so in the end I chose to go with the only drink proper enough for a true slytherin- tea.  This one I made from rosehip leaves.

Busy crafting away, but I thought I'd pop in for a really quick Advanced Friday update on my owl!
I have finally decided what pattern I wanted for the weaving, and have so far done the entire 6 meters (!) for the hanging part of the sleeves. Takes forever to set up the warp and weave so long >.<
