1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / I need help...keepsake/positive affirmations project...ideas? on: February 19, 2009 12:04:32 PM
So, I'm not sure if this would be the right topic to plead for some help...

My art teacher (who was one of my favorite teachers ever) has recently been having some health problems.  She will be undergoing surgery on Monday that will, best case, leave her a quadrapalegic, worst case, will be cancer and she will have only months to live.  She is one of the biggest personalities I have ever known, the epitomy of "artsy fartsy art teacher"  She has touched so many lives.  and now I'm running on...

I only have a few days to put something together for her.  I have been contacting the former students that I remember.  ( I graduated in 1994...but she and I have stayed in touch and I have been helping her with a community art project.)  I'm collecting notes and art pieces as well as adding my own positive affirmations.  I would like to put it together in a book, box, journal, shrine; something cool for her to take to her surgery and have through her recovery.  Since she's an art teacher I want something cool and unique...but I only have a little time.

Any thoughts?  Help!

Thanks in advance!

2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Help! Halloween/Autumn themed craft project for 3rd grade class? on: September 06, 2007 02:45:35 PM
Hi,
I wasnt sure if I should post this here or in the holiday's section...but here goes...My son is in the 3rd grade and I want to volunteer to teach a craft in class for their Halloween/Autumn party next month.  the only problem is I'm not sure what to do.  I want something a bit different that they hopefully haven't done before, but it would need to be cheep and pretty quick to put together.  There are about 30 kids in the class.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Any answers? What labeling is needed on plushies? on: August 15, 2007 05:56:21 PM
Hi all!  My husband and I have been artists for years, and I just recently jumped into making some plush slugs as a mascot for our newest book.  My question is, what kind of labelling do I need on them and do they need to go through some government process to be legal?  I took some to a book store and they mentioned the possibility of government regulations. (We did sell a bunch at Comic Con recently and I made a point of adding a "not for children under 3 years" type tag...is that enough?)  Anyone else who makes handmade animals with suggestions?

Thanks!
Sunda
