My best friend wants to learn to sew.  Do y'all know of any places that have lessons?

13  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / V-Stitch Foundation on: May 06, 2007 01:54:43 PM
I'm trying to figure out how to make a chainless foundation in a V-Stitch, but the directions don't make any sense.  Can somebody help me out?

Tips n Trix: Try the Foundation Stitch

The part I don't understand:

... for V-stitch: Chain 4-- this counts as 1 dc and ch1 for the first V. Dc in the last chain from the hook -- NOT a foundation stitch -- to complete 1 V-stitch. *Yarnover 3 times. Insert the hook into the same base chain you did before. Yarnover and draw up a loop. You want 2 chain stitches between Vs, so (yarnover and pull through 2 loops) twice. Then, when you have 3 loops left on your hook, make the base ch1, and finish the double crochet stitch. Ch1, dc into the base chain stitch, and repeat from * for the next V.
14  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Zipper for a book on: May 02, 2007 06:26:32 AM
I want to make a knitting needle "book" with a zipper, similar to this notebook cover, but I don't really know how to start.

Is there a tutorial or instructions somewhere for sewing on zippers like that?

I crocheted an throw and then sewed a tote bag (all by myself! Cheesy) to put it in.  I hope they like it.

How about y'all?
16  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Berroco wants to know on: March 18, 2007 07:22:18 AM
There is a poll at Berroco asking if you primarily knit, primarily crochet, or do both equally.  I think that it's important that more people take part in the poll if we want them to put more effort into creating good crochet patterns.

When I took it, the number of crocheters was less than 8%.  Huh

Do you crochet?
17  UNITED STATES / North Carolina / I'll be home for Christmas on: December 09, 2006 01:55:05 PM
Anybody want to get together over the holidays?  My sister and I are looking to do some crafty stuff while we are home.  She knits and I crochet, but if you do other crafts, that's cool, too.  We just want to get a crafty vibe going! Cool

My parents are somewhat equidistant from Greenville, Jacksonville, and New Bern.  Anybody game?
18  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Baby Swirls on: November 16, 2006 09:22:38 AM
I made this hat, but with double strands and a larger hook.  It fits an adult very snuggly.

Anywho, how would you go about sewing it up?  From the picture, I feel like I did it wrong.  I haven't sewn up the top yet because it just looks wrong.  I thought it was constructed like a toilet paper roll, but now, I'm not so sure.
Please help!  Undecided
19  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Button, button, who's got the button? on: September 18, 2006 06:15:52 PM
I am looking for button patterns.  Can someone point me in the right direction?  Books?  Links?  Personal favorites?  (And yes, I know about Crochet Pattern Central already.  Tongue)

They will be used on a baby sweater, if that makes a difference.

Have y'all heard of the the counterfeit crochet project?  It seems like it would be fun even as just a challenge for yourself.
