1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Cookbook swap?? on: August 24, 2007 01:23:44 PM
I think it would be fun to have a cookbook swap, that way you can receive books that you would find interesting and give one that you don't want or use to a good home.
2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Super Soft Terry Cloth on: August 15, 2007 02:27:57 PM
I'm looking for the type of terry cloth that is super soft to the touch.  Is it the chenille terry cloth or another kind.  Does anyone know where I could purchase this?
Thanks
Erika
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Help me find a manly flannel please!! on: August 15, 2007 11:23:19 AM
My boyfriend works overseas for 9 months out of the year (3 months there, a month back here etc.)  I want to make him a flannel jammy and robe set, but I'm looking for a specific fleece print.  He's into the whole frank sinatra, rat pack thing and I'd like to find some flannel kinda like that. Or maybe a pirate theme.  Last week he when to Boston and found out that algerian pirates were famous for extorting money from the newly formed united states (he's algerian and thinks that this is endlessly funny.) Does anyone know of any online stores that might have a fabric like this.  I was really wanting a fabric with fedora hats all over it, but really any ideas would be helpful.
4  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Hello from chicago!! on: August 13, 2007 10:37:17 AM
Hey hows it going?  I just joined late last week and thought I'd share a little about myself.  I love to sculpt and sew and make weird little crafty things every now and then.  As stated in the header, I live in Chicago and work as a programmer.  How I got into that field, I don't know.  My degree is in fine art.  I'm looking forward to the day I'm eligible to do swaps.  Is there any newbie swaps going on soon?  Okay, enough about me right now.
5  Illinois / Illinois: North / Textile Discount Outlet on: August 13, 2007 10:30:15 AM
I hope this is not in contempt of the posting rules, but I thought I'd just share with anyone in the chicago area or planning on visiting my favorite fabric store.  I go to Textile Discount Outlet on 2121 21st Street in chicago (its in the pilsen neighborhood).  It is magnificentally huge and cheap.  There is a pink line el stop one block away and the damen bus also goes all the way down there.  I highly recommend this place.  I learned about it from a set designer I know, a few years back.  Apparently this is the place where many set designers and  fashion designers go in the city to get their stuff.  If anyone is in town and wants to go for the first time, let me know, I go about twice a month at least.
