1  Doctor Who + Walt Witman = Nerdgasm in Stenciling: Completed Projects by Silvana on: July 08, 2011 05:49:00 PM
I will say that after making this top I googled "o doctor! my doctor!" and was delighted to find that I am not the only person to marry these two.  There is even a rewritten version of the poem specifically for The Doctor. Great minds and all that.

Cant find my camera so here are a couple phone pics and the stencil image I created in Illustrator! Enjoy.

I cut this stencil out of freezer paper using my silhouette machine [I FREAKING love that machine].

2  Re: Whedonverse Swap round 6 gallery in The Swap Gallery by Silvana on: April 20, 2011 10:56:57 AM
Two things:
1. Be envious fellow swapper!
2. This finalized my decision to send a second package in a couple weeks with two main items I had hoped to make and did not have time [of course the first time I sign up for a craft in months we end up staring a major renovation project a week later]

Sarabunny sent me a super awesomely awesome package and I received today!

First is the prettily packaged items! all gold and shiny!

First thing I opened are these AMAZING shoes! She likes to paint tennis shoes and since I don't wear them she made me some flats.  They fit perfect by the way!

They are inspired by the episode of Firefly when River is having her crazy moment with the branch/gun.  Which is one of my favorite scenes, it was done so well. Also if you look REAL close there is a quote written in the branch.
"It isn't what you think, its just an object"

Next is a whole fun tea themed pile of goodies!
Spike tea wallet!

Mug sporting Billy's awesome 'stache from the soup kitchen. [literally my favorite moment of the entire show!]

Shiny new Australia mug rug!

Then there is this super cool mister pointy necklace!

My very own Saffron dolly!  This is so cute and detailed! I love it!

And finally extras!! Buffy comic! Fan girl lovin Twilight magnets and pretty Wash inspired fabric for crafting.

Ridiculous right?  The whole thing is just too awesome!

Sarabunny just want to let you know that I meant what I wrote in the note in your package about most likely sending a little something extra when I have a chance!

3  Mature Valentines day treasure hunt. {I'm the Prize!} in Valentine's Day by Silvana on: February 12, 2011 10:08:53 AM
I am recently unemployed so I had to come up with something super cheap but fun for my husband for valentines day.

I finally decided on the idea of a treasure hunt that would take him all over the house and end with him finding me!

I took some dodgy self timer photos in my bedroom and picked my favorite as the final image.
This is printed to cover an entire sheet of cardstock.

On the other side I printed this image.

I cut the final product up into little cards and I will give him the first card with a clue to a spot in our house.  In that spot is the next card.  When he finds them all he can put together the puzzle and find me.

It was really fun to put together and *hopefully* he enjoys the activity.  {I am not giving it to him until tonight}

4  Fabric through my printer! in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by Silvana on: January 09, 2011 05:52:01 PM
So I know I have seen these projects on here before but this is my little addition.
I am starting an etsy shop and among other projects I used this technique, I made some labels.

It was soooo simple and I already had the fabric and freezer paper [I am a freezer paper stencil junky!]

There are a bunch more photos and a tutorial on my blog

6  Inspired Hair Sticks [with quasi tutorial] in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Silvana on: October 19, 2010 10:53:57 AM
I have always loved the look of geisha hair sticks.

Anyhow I was in the Whedonverse swap and decided to make some Inara inspired hair sticks for my partner and her daughter.

They turned out easier than I would have thought.
Here are the sticks.

Here is my cheesy tutorial.

Yeah the strawberry bag has charms that represent Kaylee's cupcake dress, spiral umbrella and door sign.
I had such a fun time doing making everything.

This is the tiara I made for her youngest daughter.  She loves fairies and princesses and playing in the dirt.  I thought I would use inspiration from the first two.

8  River Tam... Can kill you with her brain in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Silvana on: October 19, 2010 05:54:49 AM
Have you ever been in a swap and you TOTALLY got carried away.  That is precisely what happen to me with the Joss Whedon swap I just participated in.

My partner has a little River Tam figurine on her wist and when I decided to recreate it the project got a mind of its own.
The result is this!

My partner also mentioned her favorite scene was from serenity "when River kicks reever ass"
So I made the dress and weapons.
I was disappointed that the only doll I could find to recon had green eyes [river has brown]  but I thought the overall effect was pretty good.

Sorry for obnoxious over photoage, but here is the process shots of the face re-sculpt and repaint.  I sure love my new dremel!
The dolls original look

After basic re-sculpting.

Steps of painting

And a few more shots for good measure.

Her boots are made with real leather.  The bases are the old soles from the plastic sneakers she doll was wearing
The weapons are poly clay.  I hand formed and then refined with the dremel.

Here she is in her box I made.

This is a photo my swap partner took of her in the pose from the poster.

DH is home and LOOOVES the hat.  He only just took it off and says he is wearing it to work tomorrow.  Apparently he has a friend that is a fan and he is excited to show her and revel in the jealousy.

Sorry in advance for so many photos.  But I had to properly document all the delicious swap candy!
Look at this hilariously stuffed box!

And the only reason it fit is she shrunk it in a vacuum bag!

Here is everything in no particular order.  They all came with little notes.
This is the shawl from Saffron [she is a small but favorite character]

This is a box of strawberry pin cushions from Book.

This is part of the package for my DH.  She sent him the sheet music for Jayne's Song and The Balled For Serenity

This is the rest of his portion, but I guarantee I will be snatching it from time to time. [I think I look pretty cunning in it] The best part of this is LITERALLY this morning he asked where his winter hats were.  Its getting cold here.

Here is my own little wobbly headed doll from Mal [it came in its own little pouch!]

Here are my own little Dinos from Wash, which made me laugh.

Then [and this is so cool I am gonna be wearing it all the time!] a leather necklace EXACTLY like Zoe's

And River passed on this super awesome book mark! The little charms are so amazing.

This is a super pretty pillow left over from when Inara did some decorating.

This is a super cute little purse and awesome set of jewelry Kaylee just KNEW I would love. [She was right]

Then, since she was able to watch the Dr Horrible before send outs and make me the most awesome little Billy, Penny and Cpt Hammer.
Moist helped her sneak them from Dr Horrible's office.

Finally, look how cute the little notes with everything are!! I plan to use them in my scrap book I am about to start.  I love the colors.

And a group shot.  Look at that haul!
