31  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / The only problem with felt food on: January 09, 2008 10:35:40 AM
My younger kids try to eat it.... for real.

Hahahaha!! Cheesy

Crazy kids.
32  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / I made a sammich.... yum on: January 06, 2008 07:20:17 PM
So this it was happens when Joann's has felt on sale and I am in the mood to do a little (yeah, about 50-60%) hand sewing.

Isn't it cute!? What do you think? It's my second ever felt food creation.

33  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Felt Heart Wallet on: January 06, 2008 09:20:22 AM
I was bored, it's pouring rain here and since Valentine's Day is coming up next month I figured (for once) I would get ahead on my holiday crafting. Now my oldest son is requesting a Dragon Wallet. ( I hate my camera, it takes crappy pics of my crafts. Sad )

Anywho- here it is.

Just single pieces of felt, the edges are zigzag stitch to prettify it, but I think I will hand stitch the outside next time with embroidery thread.

34  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / WTH are these? (pics) on: January 03, 2008 03:00:42 PM
So I am still going through Box #1 of this stash here and I haven't a CLUE what these are! They are in a neat vintage Vaseline jar, but it's not Vaseline!  Cheesy

They are the size of a thumbtack, with a corkscrew like thing coming out of the bottom and a clear plastic button on top. You can't see the detail in the pic, but it kinda looks like there is 2 girls imprinted on the top?

Anyone know?
Bottle top shot (cuz it's cool):

35  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Thread question! on: January 03, 2008 02:01:36 PM
I inherited a lot of stuff.
(posted of part of items here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=217660.0 )

I also inherited a TON of spools of thread!

I have 44 regular sized spools (maybe 10 of them are actually ones I bought) and 29 small spools of thread. Quite a few are on wooden spools- so they are OOOOOOOOLLLLLLD!

So, can I still use them? Does thread go "bad" or "expire"?

I hope not! This lady had so really nifty colors! I am in LOVE.
36  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I don't knit...but.... (lots of images) UPDATED once again! on: January 03, 2008 11:50:06 AM
I sort of inherited all this stuff and I have to organize it (I plan on learning how to knit, but so far all I can do is cast on, knit and purl.....horribly...but I CAN purl...kinda) in a roll.

By "sort of" inherited I mean, my MIL bought a house of an old lady who passed away from her grandson. He ransacked the house, took all the things he thought were of value to him and left everything else. Sooooooooo I got a $h!t ton of crafting stuff, but some of it I have no idea what to do with. BTW- I have had these things for about 4-5 years now.  Embarrassed Just now I am attempting to use them.

So please help a crafting sister out here. What IS some of this stuff?! I think I know what it is, but I need confirmation and direction here. I want to know what it is before I make a roll for it.
Here's what I've got:

The "box-O-needles-n-stuff" how I received it (not the BEST storage method IMO)

6 sets of 13" knitting needles, 8 sets of 9" knitting needles

Ignore the 3 sets of needles on the left- there are 2 cable stitch holders (1 thin, 1 thicker) on the right.

Those tiny things? (sorry for the glare) on the bottom? Huh What? No idea what those are called or what you would use them for (I know they are-knitting needles obviously, but are they special?), but there are 2 sets and the are relatively small. Then there are 2 with no partner to them. Sad

Cable needles? Is that what those are? Anywho- I have 2 of them. (again, really sorry about the nasty glare- guess I have a shiny kitchen table! LOL)

Now, I have 2 sets of these and the others are not sets. Do they "hold" your work for you when you remove the needles? What are they called? Huh (again, sorry, stupid glare!)

Maybe I will attempt to yet again knit this year (and not want to stab myself with the needles) because I love the way knit things look.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
37  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / It's my GiGi's 3rd Birthday! {pics-go-lore} on: December 31, 2007 08:13:21 PM
 Grin

So in addition to making her felt cookies for her tea party set http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=208784.0

She had to examine every single one of them and lay them out! LOL!

I made her an apron out of some leftover tan corduroy and a really cool cowboy red flannel recieving blanket I bought at the Dollar Tree (woot Dollar Tree!  Cool).

Goofy azz smile she ALWAYS does Roll Eyes

Action shot making her cuppycakes!

Crappy pic of a cupcake (wilton's chocolate sponge cake, pink butter cream icing with purple sugar sprinkles-since the pic sucks)

I also made her a cute-azz scoodie (thanks vegbee!)out of this really pretty rose corduroy and fleece. She LOVES it!
Front (made it big so it would fit for a while- she LOVES it, can't cha tell? LOL

Back (Super-duper-long scarf on that bi@tc#! YAY!)

I would have made more felt food and I was going to put ruffles on the top and bottom of the apron, but I got the flu shortly after Christmas and have pretty much been sleeping or awake in pain up until today (I started feeling a little better or she wouldn't have gotten cupcakes.)
Right now she's sitting in her babydoll stroller, wearing her apron and licking her cupcake. LOL (had to snap a quick pic!)

Sorry for the huge pics, I think I need to reset my options in photobucket.
38  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / Recon the ugly gift? on: December 22, 2007 07:37:47 PM
I was reading another thread about swapping unwanted gifts, but what if you got a particularly HIDEOUS gift and just MUST recon it because it is that atrocious?

I thought of this the moment my dad handed me this fugly "thing" from his girlfriend. It's SO UGLY I can't even regift it to my hubby's grandmother!

So can we do a challenge like this after the Holidays?

Purdy Pleeeeeeeeeeeze?

Irregardless I am going to recon this ugly thing somehow!! LOL
39  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Yummy soft leg warmers on: December 12, 2007 10:12:15 PM
I made my little almost 3yo daughter a pair of these soft, warm, plush leg warmers for Christmas. I LOVE them! The pictures really don't do them much justice because the are so much more beautiful IRL. I used 3 full skeins of Red Heart-Rag Doll Pinky. I semi-kind of (very loosely) followed a free pattern for a ballet set from Jiffy's website, but not really. I used the size I hook for the ribbing, but used a size N for the legs (because I couldn't find my size K that the pattern called for) and reduced the number of increases.

Best close-up shot I could get of one:

She tried on one (I told her they were for her BFF- she doesn't know they are for her) and they look BEAUTIFUL on her! I'm making another pair tonight. I will hopefully post pics for that tomorrow at the latest (depends on when my husband's ship gets back).

40  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Say CHEESE!! on: December 05, 2007 11:43:41 PM
My second stencil ever. This time I used freezer paper- MUCH easier. I did accidentally drop the wet painted paper on his eye a tad, but oh well. It's still wet. I'll iron it tomorrow night. Cheesy

CHEESE!!!
