21  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Dresses for the BooBear (tons of pics!!) on: August 22, 2008 02:22:21 PM
I made my dd a dress out of that same fabric last year! They all look great. Wink
22  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Toddler Nap Mat - img heavy! ** TUTORIAL ADDED** on: August 22, 2008 10:08:40 AM
And I *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!*

DD starts preschool next month. I'm going to ask her teachers if she is allowed to have this for naptime. They did tell me she was to bring a blanket and comfort toy for naptime. Hmmmm....

Downloaded your tute Jenny. Grin Thanks so much. I am sure I'll make one for my 2 yr old ds also because he would love it.
23  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Mythbusters Poppets- DO NOT LOOK MOJEN on: August 21, 2008 09:19:51 PM
These are so great. I love the stances! I'm just going to proactively assume that she adores her new buddies.

Also: How much fun could you have making little props for these guys? The test dummy? Oh yes.

I started a Buster doll for her and if I don't get too busy with my school work I think I may have to send her another box. Tongue I wanted to make "Shark Week" items to go with it and I was dvr-ing the Shark episode for her.... my 7 yr old erased it!! GAAAH!
24  COOKING / Dessert / The 5 hour, 48 cupcake Elmo Cake on: August 21, 2008 09:18:09 PM
My littlest turned 2 this month and I didn't decide on how to do the cake until 2 days before the party.  Tongue The wasn't really into anything except balls until about 2 days before his party. Then he felt he LOVE for Elmo. It took me 5 hours to trim all the cupcakes to an even size and then pipe the entire thing. The bottom portion of Elmo is actually a 9" cake I cut in half and layered since I ran out of cupcake papers.
I did fix the bottom of Elmo's face after I took the pics and also for some odd reason the cupcakes on the right didn't want to fit together.... then I ran out of chocolate frosting for the outside.... twice... so said "$%#& IT!" and didn't bother trying to cover the empty spots on the side. Then when I went to write, 'Happy Birthday ******" !' on the top cloud..... the gel RAN! GAAAH!! Good thing I could cover it with sprinkles!

Even with it not being perfect it got me a job making a cake later next month for a neighbor's birthday! Yay!

It tasted yummy (even though I didn't eat any until the next day- I didn't want cake after working on it so long)! Butter cake(boxed! eek!) and butter cream icing (homemade) for the colored spots and I used chocolate funfetti icing for the outside.
25  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Mythbusters Poppets- DO NOT LOOK MOJEN on: August 21, 2008 08:55:53 PM
Thanks! I should have taken more pics, but I just wanted to send them off to her ASAP as I was already super-late on my swap. Sad I modified the pattern to give them muscles. Grin

For the IYP9 swap I made Mojen Adam and Jamie dolls (from Mythbusters) I stupidly forgot to take pics of them in their glasses (duh)! They both have lab coats and polyclay glasses (not pictured, but you can pretend they are there). I'm pretty proud of myself. Grin

The feet are weighted so they can stand on their own.

Amazingly the hat is the one and only thing that actually worked out the very 1st time I made it.
I didn't have any black jean material, but I had some dark navy jean material- well, you use whatcha got right!?

So what do you think?

27  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Midsummer Masquerade!!! Invite your partner swap round 9! send by 7-18 on: July 19, 2008 02:01:34 PM
I do have a semi-spoiler for Mojen though! Tongue Yes, I ended up mod-ing ghilie's poppet pattern (it's blatant) and 'why no head?' You may ask..... Um can't give away the WHOLE sha-bang before she receives it! Roll Eyes

yay!!! *bounces*

SO just walked past and went "he's naked!" and then took a moment and "he has no head!" nice to know what he notices first!  Grin

LOL!! My hubby says this one turned out WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the last 3 I tried to make.  Roll Eyes Yeah. MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER! The other 3 look ed like deranged Cabbage Patch dolls....  Lips sealed

Ha!  I noticed the naked first, too, but I also noticed that it doesn't seem like a "he". Ahem.
Yeah... I think giving those 2 dolls boy parts might give me nightmares. :|
28  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Painting a bicycle... Anyone done it? on: July 18, 2008 04:30:33 PM
Yay! You are getting it done! (unlike me..... I have been getting barely anything done.) I can't WAIT to see it finished! Grin
29  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Re: My very 1st article of clothing for ME since 7th Grade HomeEc! on: July 18, 2008 04:28:19 PM
How do you think it would look with different colours for the top, midriff section and skirt? Just wondering.
It should look great! There is a sash for the midriff area, but I didn't include it in mine because I didn't like the way it looked on me and a couple of the pics showed it with different colors for the different sections.

Thank you everyone for all the lovely compliments! (I've lost 5 lbs since this pic was taken, hopefully will lose more and have to take it IN! Cheesy )

I still have yet to make another dress. Been really sick lately and just barely have been able to get things I need done, done! My daughter has been wearing her dress that matches mine pretty regularly, but I always forget to snap a pic! DUH!
30  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: IYP 9: Midsummer Masquerade Gallery! on: July 18, 2008 01:36:50 PM
I am recovering from a sinus infection and bronchitis (yay, love when my allergies are so bad I get sick. :|), but I am here to quick post pics of the saaaaaaaaa-wwwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeet package I got!

Here are the lovely things Mojen sent me!
(the delish-a-rific chocolate is gone! I kept the wrapper to take a pic.... but hubby moved it and I can't find it!)

My oldest is going to be Harry Potter for Halloween this year and I needed a sweater for him.
(he makes goofy faces Roll Eyes )
