31  Roses are red.... Apples are BLUE in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by RockstarMom on: February 14, 2008 12:04:46 AM
So my 18 mo old decided yesterday to pilfer an apple from the kitchen. He took 1 itty bitty bite and then proceeded to throw it around the house like a ball.I took it away and it was beyond being able to eat. Now, we don't waste food in this house- so it became ART.

I haven't "painted" in YEARS. Here it goes.... (sorry it's crooked)

The darker blue is the apple print and there is argyle printed paper seeds and stem glued on. The lighter blue is decoupaged tissue paper with dark blue painted seeds and stems. Then I water colored around the apples because if I left it white, it would be too unfinished. I still have to seal it to finish it off. Grin

What do you think?

He has fingers, toes and a buttcrack now! Cheesy

No buttcrack shots..... It looked kinda like a scene from Pulp Fiction when I went to take those pics.  Lips sealed

34  I caught a green alien... he's nekkid! UPDATED: He is named! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by RockstarMom on: February 09, 2008 12:39:27 PM
He was in my craft room.... and when I saw him... he RAN and jumped up to the top of the window blinds!

I snapped his picture fast and then the kids and I chased him down the stairs where I caught him trying to figure out how to download "softies porn" on my computer! *gasp* Shocked

Luckily he was not too fast this time... as he was mesmerized by all the amigurumis you can find on the Earth Internet. So I caught him as he tried top vault over the computer.

So now I have this alien.... I think he needs clothing.... perhaps finished off toes and fingers.... and maybe a butt crack? Cheesy Might make him more "acceptable" on Earth because I think he'll be here a while.

He now is named!!

Funny how that works- I thought his name while I made him and someone else said he looked like that name!! So now his name is .....

COLIN!!

36  Lookieloo!! I knit myself a cuff! in Knitting: Completed Projects by RockstarMom on: February 06, 2008 11:48:29 PM
 Shocked
LOL
Not the most impressive knit in the world, but I am filled with pride because it is the very first thing I have knit with my inherited knitting needles. What's it called? Garter stitch? I haven't a clue. I just know I made it on my knitting needles on a whim and it's soft, purdy and has some neat vintage wooden buttons on it (also inherited from the same person whom I got the needle stashola from!). I was doing an immediate destashing on some yummy soft yarn I bought for a swap and decided it would make the perfect cuff. Grin

I needed to make myself something. All I have been doing is swaps, giftings and commissioned work lately. This was easy enough to whip up in about 45 minutes (yes I be a SLOOOOOOOW knitter!). The buttons aren't centered perfectly on purpose, I wanted them to look like the cuff of a shirt's buttons would. Wink

37  Dastash and Organize- The Shabby Chic Way! in CHALLENGE 24 ENTRIES by RockstarMom on: February 03, 2008 07:16:59 PM
I have 12, yes... 12 tote boxes filled with crafting things and no organization whatsoever.

So this years resolution is to Organize all my crafting supplies and destash my scraps. I was able to do them all at once! Cheesy

So here it is:
1st, I had no sewing machine cover. Well, I DID have one, but it misappeared! So I took this pretty pink patterned material and off-white corduroy that I had cut into strips for a previous project and the lightbulb went off in my head! This would make the prettiest shabby chic sewing machine cover!

Fully lined with a remnant I had leftover and just happened to be more than enough for the lining. Wink

Since I rarely unplug my machine, I had to make an opening for the plugs.

Since I was already started I decided to finish off the pretty pink patterned material and made a new pin cushion. I had a monster one I made before, but my kids kept playing with it and the pins kept disappearing! It needed to be up high and away from kiddos. So I made it a hanging pin cushion that I can put up high when I am not using it. Grin

I had to then make a needle holder! It is not easy to get needles out of the little paper and plastic sleeve they come in. I inevitably end up poking myself every time. Also hanging to keep out of small children's hands.

Both hanging together

The batting inside the pin cushion and the needle holder is also a destash leftover from when my MIL was helping me reupholster my kitchen chairs two summers ago. I decided to zig zag the edges on this project so it would not look too much like it should be a prop for Steel Magnolias. LOL!

I am almost out of the pink, but I have enough to make a needle roll for my crochet hooks and for my knitting needles. Grin By the end of the year I will be down at least to 10 boxes Cheesy and have the entire room organized!
Enjoy!

38  Re: The One Thing I'd Like For Myself Swap Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by RockstarMom on: February 03, 2008 06:45:35 PM
Sorry these took so long for me to get up here. I still couldn't get pics that were all that great. I tried for days. Sad Really, the pictures do RondaS's work NO JUSTICE! They are a million times more beautiful in person than in my pics!
So here is my gift from my lovely, wonderful, spoiling swap angel, RondaS!

My new scarf (funny thing, I am making a shrug out of that same exact green!)

Multi-stone magnetic strand that I have worn 3 times! Twice as a very short necklace and once as a bracelet.

Kiwi agate and onyx toggle necklace

Matching bracelet

Matching earrings

Rose quartz, denim lapis and malachite necklace

Matching earrings

Woodgrain jasper, smokey quartz and malachite necklace

There is a matching pair of malachite heart shaped earrings, but I can't find the picture and my camera batteries have once again died. Sad

But thank you, thank you Ronda!! I love showing off my new jewelry you made me!

40  Felt Heart Wallet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by RockstarMom on: January 06, 2008 09:20:22 AM
I was bored, it's pouring rain here and since Valentine's Day is coming up next month I figured (for once) I would get ahead on my holiday crafting. Now my oldest son is requesting a Dragon Wallet. ( I hate my camera, it takes crappy pics of my crafts. Sad )

Anywho- here it is.

Just single pieces of felt, the edges are zigzag stitch to prettify it, but I think I will hand stitch the outside next time with embroidery thread.
