1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Does anyone have some swatches just lying around? on: February 20, 2010 02:39:49 PM
So I work with Whole Foods Market in Louisville, KY.  We are raising money for the Whole Planet Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides micro loans to women in Third World Countries to start their own businesses and get out of poverty.    Many of these women cook, sew and do some pretty crafty stuff to make a living and I thought that it would be awesome to do something crafty to help them.  I will be teaching knitting classes to raise money.  I am also trying to get knitters and crocheters to donate test swatches to sew together to make a blanket to be raffled off for the Whole Planet Foundation.  I think it would be pretty amazing to be able to have people from all over the country participate in improving the quality of someone's life by contributing to a blanket. If anyone is interested in donating some swatches, please mail them to:
Whole Foods Market
Attn: Demo Specialist
4944 Shelbyville Rd
Louisville KY 40207

I would need them no later then the end of March because that is when the fundraiser ends.
If you have any questions or would like some more information about this please send me a message.  Thank You!
2  UNITED STATES / Kentucky / Craft Club In Louisville, KY on: January 08, 2010 08:38:55 AM
Okay so I work at Whole Foods Market in Louisville, KY and we want to have a craft group/ classes to raise money for the Whole Planet Foundation.  The Whole Planet Foundation provides microloans to women in third world countries so they can start their own bussiness and get out of poverty.  It's pretty awesome.  Many of these women, sew, weave, and are pretty crafty.  Being the crafty girl myself, anyway that I can be at work and craft at the sametime I am happy as a clam  Wink.  I think it would be awesome to have a craft group that will showcase and participate in many of the crafts that women are using to make a living and support their families.
Oh and did I mention that there will be food Grin??  We want to make snacks and appetizers each week that showcases a different country.
We're looking for people who will want to participate in a crafty group or people who would like to teach other people their crafty skills.
The group would meet from March 3rd to March 31st.
Feel free to send me a message if this is something that sounds cool to you.

5  UNITED STATES / Indiana / Info Please! on: December 13, 2007 07:57:45 AM
I'm from Kokomo, Indiana currently residing in Louisville, KY to finish my degree in Culinary Arts.  I want to go to the Art Institute in Indy for Fashion Design (I know those degrees don't really match) and I was wondering if anyone knows the good, the bad, and the ugly about that program?  All schools make their programs sound amazing but I want to hear what real people think.
Thanks!
