1  Silky Kitty for Boyfriend! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by lucyinthesky16 on: November 26, 2008 10:10:39 AM
So my boyfriend was kind of jealous that i made my friend's girlfriend a doll and nothing for him.  So, to shut him up, i made him this:

Brown and green are like his favorite colors, and this fabric is really cool, it feels like the kind of fabric ties are made out of.  and he really really wants a kitten for christmas, but because he has two dogs and a cat already, it wouldn't be wise to get one right now.  I know this seems like a wussy gift to give him, but i'm not done with it yet. heh heh.

oh yea, and the pictures are HORRIBLE because my digital camera is not working right now, and my web cam SUCKS.

2  Re: Updated..What sewing machine do u use? (Pics Please) in Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions by lucyinthesky16 on: November 26, 2008 09:53:49 AM
I use my mother's 1952 Singer Featherweight.  I love it! it's so versatile that i can bring it into the living room and sew while watching movies with my sister and mom.  and it folds up and slips into a little box and slips into my room. and c'mon, it's adorable!

bad picture of it, and alfred from batman seems to be hanging around in the background.

love my (mom's) featherweight! Cheesy

3  Kodama!!! (the tree spirit from princess mononoke) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by lucyinthesky16 on: October 24, 2008 10:58:55 AM
This is not only my very first doll, but my very first commission! (sort of) My friend's girlfriend really loves the kodamas from princess mononoke, and my friend asked me if i would make him a doll of one for him to give to her as a gift.  so i did! and i am surprised at how good it turned out.  It's made out of felt, and i got the tutorial from here---> http://www.members.shaw.ca/plushie/ufoplush/
(i had to blow the pattern up a bit though)
anyways, here it is, hanging out with the featherweight that helped build it:

4  bed caddy/organizer for my college dorm! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by lucyinthesky16 on: July 31, 2008 09:03:55 PM
helloooo!
so, i'm kind of excited about going back to college, but i am dirt broke (didn't get a job over the summer for family reasons...nothing serious, just a long story) so i decided to make some things for my dorm.  First and foremost, I'm tired of throwing my books and notebooks and things on a chair next to my bed in my dorm, so I came up with this idea to make a bed caddy.  I didn't make this from a pattern, kind of came up with it on my own, but it was super easy to make. (really, if you can sew a straight line, you could do this!)
so, here is my bed caddy, presented to you in AMAZINGLY BAD WEBCAM SHOTS! HUZZA! (sorry, didn't have time to upload pics from my camera on my super slow computer. i have to get up early tomorrow morning to go to chicago.)

So, here it is. The yellow and blue fabric was a remnant i found in a long-forgotten fabric section in a store in my town that is usually empty...and spooky. the colors are SO MUCH BRIGHTER in person, but yea, crappy camera.

this is the larger black part that goes under the matress. i added the ribbons because the bed frames in my dorm have like, thick squiggly wires that hold the mattress up i guess, and that is what i'm planning on tying these to.

close up of the pockets, and the fabric.  yes, that is the director's cut of "Johnny, The Homicidal Maniac". yes, i am a nerd. i can't help it, i've loved it since, wow, MIDDLE school!  Shocked (how the years fly!)

a crappy, blurry close up of the smaller pockets and the pen pockets.
did i use a big expensive sewing machine for this? noooo! i used this little darling:

a 53 year old Feather weight! that thing is a MIRACLE! you can't believe how well it sews through thick layers! better than the Viking! oh, and that's a pincushion my sis made me. a tofu square with a look of pain on his face. why is he screaming? my sister's reasoning was, well, if YOU were a pincushion, would YOU be smiling?
my sister has an odd sense of humor...
(oh, if your wondering what's on the television, i was watching "Batman Begins" Cheesy

5  Mrs. Reachy the Giraffe (as many pics as her neck is long) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by lucyinthesky16 on: July 23, 2008 01:15:03 PM
man i wish i could take credit for the name "mrs reachy," but it came from the newest episode of the venture brothers.  in fact, when dean came out talking to "mr. reachy," i lost it. i had to make a giraffe! lol i'm crazy i know Tongue anyways, here she is:

lol just ignore the mindless self indulgence desktop, didn't feel like getting up. ><
*edit: oh god! didn't notice the people kissing on the tv screen until i posted this. gross....sorry!

the computer sort of gives you an idea of how big she is

side view

as you can see, she is indeed faceless. i couldn't figure out how to give her eyes, then decided i liked her without a face.

lol an image of her belly.  wanted to show you the contrasting pink fabric.
and that's all! she's made from flannel scraps from a quilt my mom made (the quilt is VERY bright by the way, and awesome!) and she's very soft.
well, thanks for looking!
OH one more thing...got the pattern from here---> http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=120321.0
the thread was kind of dead, so i thought i would make a new one

6  time to meditate..."aum" embroidered wallet! (pic juicy!) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by lucyinthesky16 on: June 25, 2008 10:55:12 PM
so, as explained in this post http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=253696.0;topicseen i've been down for a couple of days...
anyways, i've been badly needing a new wallet, as my old one is tatternd, worn, dirty, and too big and bulky to fit in my back pocket.  the only reason i hung onto it for so long was because it had the "aum" symbol embroidered on it.  for reason of comparison, i give you the dingy old wallet:

notice the worn spot.

eew i hate velcro because hair gets in it and it looks gross...

that stupid zippered pocket went all the way to the end, it was really not useful.
aaand here's the new wallet!

hand embroidered myself!

outside of wallet, it's similar to the tea wallet, but the button is on the back so it won't take away from the embroidered front, and i added a huge outer wallet for money

action inside shot...kind of nervous about the cards falling out, so i put the really important ones in the big outer pocket

the outer pocket. guys, i literally had *no money* to demonstrate here! lol
i'm so proud of myself, it turned out way better than expected! and it's a lot slimmer, so that now i don't have to have my boyfriend hang onto my wallet when we go to concerts or bars! huzza!
as always, thanks for looking!

7  my transcedental cure for medical woes! *EDIT* linked to wallet! in Needlework: Completed Projects by lucyinthesky16 on: June 25, 2008 04:05:41 PM
so the other night my ear started hurting so bad i was actually crying. (atrocious, a grown woman at 21! D:) i went to the doctor and he said "guess what? there's a BLISTER ON YOUR EARDRUM!  Cry
so, with only one working ear, i decided to hang around the house until it cleared up (doctor said about a week while on medication that makes me SICK)
anyways, with nothing to do but lay in bed i decided to do something i haven't done in a loooong time: embroider! it's not much, but it sort of took my mind off of my ear problem for a while:

it's the aum symbol on a lotus! (for those of you wondering->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Om)
i'm in the process of making a new wallet, and i'll use it for that.
sorry about the gross backstory, but i always enjoy reading what people do to come up with the things they come up with Cheesy

EDIT: now a wallet!

8  "under a frozen sky" pen and ink drawing in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by lucyinthesky16 on: February 13, 2008 10:39:59 AM

a pen and ink drawing done on bristol board.  Means a lot to me, because it's the first real drawing i've done in a while.  done with a cheap but AWESOME pen found at dollar general on bristol board.  (the pen is called something like x-tank, comes in a pack of two, it's soooo easy to control lines and the weight the lines and stipple when held at different angles. i love it!)

eh, i don't like the view here, i couldn't figure out how to make it bigger.  if you would like to see a bigger image of it, feel free to go here---> http://lucyinthesky16.deviantart.com/art/Under-a-Frozen-Sky-77130733
