21  butterflies and flowers in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by summertimerolls on: January 28, 2009 11:25:21 AM
So, my mom ordered up her birthday present.  I'm 32 and she still wants stuff made by me.  She wanted this:

but I made her this:

Quilling is very hard to photograph, at least for me, so here are some close ups

Comments, critiques, questions are all welcome and appreciated!
I hope she likes it.  I can't get it to her b/c we are in the middle of an ice/snow storm.

22  I LOVE MY SCARF in Knitting: Completed Projects by summertimerolls on: January 16, 2009 11:12:03 AM
So, it is no big deal but I love it so much.  I knit a scarf.  I don't really knit, but I'm learning.
This is about 4 inches wide and about 6 feet long.  I just knit (no purls) and I know that is called some kind of stitch.  Pretty simple.
one side:

the other side, which I like the most

and finally and action shot.

23  A quickie turned cute in Completed Projects by summertimerolls on: December 26, 2008 09:29:48 AM
So, I had a simple idea for my 83 yr. old grandmother,  who is home bound and doesn't like anything except sitting at her table and drinking coffee.  So I thought I would have the kids make her placemats.  I didn't know how they would turn out, but they turned out pretty cute.  I hope she likes them, we haven't given them to her yet.

24  Re: I can make that -- so I did. *Now with bunny-lovin' pics on PG 4* in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by summertimerolls on: December 21, 2008 08:24:53 PM
Well I've been busy and I have to make two more for my kids.  They have both ordered one up.  But so far I've made six.  I was going to make four...(we have friends with four daughters) then my husband was going to visit old friends of ours with two girls, so the bunnies were all perfect gifts.  Here they are.

These I knitted and crocheted scarves for

It is hard to see but the black one has pink eyes and nose.  The ears are a black fabric with pink dots.  It actually turned out to be my favorite.  They are all fleece except for the white one which I made from a micro fleece blanket I found at wal-mart.  It is the softest.

25  squirrel sheets in Stenciling: Completed Projects by summertimerolls on: December 12, 2008 09:46:08 AM
So, my 12 year old niece has been obsessed with squirrels forever.  Squirrel trinkets are not the easiest to come by, so I usually end up making her stuff.
This year I made sheets.  Well, I bought the sheets, they are flannel, then I used freezer paper stencils and fabric paint.  I've never done this before, I although I had a lot to cut out, it was pretty easy.  I also carved a stamp for the track prints, but it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, so I didn't put any on the sheets.

What do you think?

A little better picture of the lettering.

If anyone has any ideas to make it better, let me know I still have time to work on it.  Also, I couldn't decide to add eyes or not.  Everytime I did on paper, they just looked creepy to me.  Do they look funny without?

26  Re: Children's ongoing wish swap 2 in The Swap Gallery by summertimerolls on: November 03, 2008 06:46:56 AM
Hi.  I know this swap is closed but I wanted to post some pictures of the stuff I sent to unjugetito.  She was moving, so I'm sure in her busy, busy move she forgot to post pictures...no problem....I remembered to take some.

Two Ispy bags for her boys

A set of hair curlers for her daughter

And a gnome mommy and baby for her little one.  I put cellophane inside the dolls b/c she said her baby likes things that crinkle.

All of these were new crafts to me.  I'm getting better at sewing!!!
They were so fun!

27  Re: COWS round 3 in The Swap Gallery by summertimerolls on: November 03, 2008 06:33:11 AM
I received 2 pairs of jammie pants for my son from girlosun.  One was a solid green flannel, and one was THOMAS.  I don't think he's taken the thomas ones off.

Thanks they are super great.  They are a perfect fit too as you can see.

Well, since everyone is listing...

I dabble in almost everything.  If there is something I want to try I claim someone for it so I can go out and buy all the stuff.  But I think I've bought ALL the stuff there is to buy!

I crochet

I mosaic

I sew monster dolls

I quill

I dabble in resin

polyclay

I can also cross stitch and embroider.  I don't have any pics though.
I will glue a magnet to anything.

Basically I have crafting ADD.  I become obsessed with one medium for a while then move on to another.  I just 'won' 12 lbs. of buttons off ebay so I bet I'm going to be doing things with buttons soon.  Yes, you read right, 12 POUNDS!  They were only 20 bucks and I have seen some cool mosaics with buttons.  My hubby thought I was a little wacked when that one came through paypal.

I am making myself learn to sew...I'm still working up to a real pattern, but right now it is simple stuff.

Anywho...Everything I've listed I've made for swaps, so that gives you an idea of what I do.

29  Molly monkey in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by summertimerolls on: October 10, 2008 08:04:08 PM
So, I am in a children's ongoing wishlist swap, otherwise known as COWS.  Someone wanted this monkey made http://mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/2008/07/drum-roll-pleasemolly-monkey-pattern.html
Here's the one I made.

I added magnets on the inside of her hands so they can 'hug'.
Her shoes, hat and skirt all can be removed.

I sent girlosun_9 a Molly Monkey from a pattern she had listed a link too.  She is saving it for a present so I thought that I would post pictures.  I really, really liked this one and I know that I'll be making two more.  Another girl and a boy for my son.
The shoes, hat and skirt come off, so you could make more clothes for her.

And here is a link to the FREE pattern. http://mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/2008/07/drum-roll-pleasemolly-monkey-pattern.html It is way too cute not to try and I'm not a sewer and it was pretty easy.  Oh, except this Molly has two sets of ears.  Inner and outer b/c I pinned them on wrong and when I flipped it right side out I was like, 'hey where did the ears go?'  They are on the inside of her head.  Never mind...I'll just sew them on my hand.
