Cool bag Smiley

Here's the granny quilt made with that big old stack of grannies I posted before:

I really love this joining method.  Quick, easy, adds interest and extra size!  YAY Smiley

I haven't been doing a granny a day...in fact, yesterday I made 7 grannies!  Here's my stack of 20 ready to be made into a blanket:

I made a very similar blanket for my own daughter last month and this one is for an order.  I will post photos of the completed blanket when I'm finished weaving in ends and joining.

3  Brobee Hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by danger.kitty on: May 28, 2011 10:48:48 PM
Since our kids started watching Yo Gabba Gabba, my husband and I have also become fans.  It's somewhat better to watch than The Wiggles, what with the Super Music Friends Show and Dancey-Dances...

Anyway, my husband decided he wanted a Brobee hat.  Not a hat that looked like Brobee sitting on top of his head, but one that would transform him into Brobee.  So, I let him pick out some bright green kids yarn from the craft store and went at it.  It's based on The Bullet pattern from Ravelry http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-bullet and I "made up" the patterns for the horns and eyebrow and sewed them on securely once I was finished.

So far this is the best photo of someone wearing the hat.  She has a small, 4 year old sized head while my husband has a massive head, so it's obviously huge on her.  I will have to update with a photo of my husband wearing it so you can see how perfectly it fits.

5  That's how I roll - air plane embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by danger.kitty on: April 22, 2011 03:17:10 PM
I am trying to make every gift that I give in 2011...it's a rather big project but one that I'm loving so far.

For my husband's birthday last week, I stitched up this hoop for his office.  It's a plane doing an aerobatic loop and he's a flying instructor.

The idea and the slogan, "That's how I roll" were stolen from a tshirt design I saw him admiring online.

I'm not embroidery expert and this piece used very simple stitches - back stitch, satin stitch and french knots for the wheels and punctuation.  The fabric is ripstop nylon which is like parachute material and ties into the aviation theme.

No photos of the back but I laced up the excess fabric in the back and then glued a piece of felt over.

Comments and criticism welcome.

6  Re: NZ Only Swap! in The Swap Gallery by danger.kitty on: February 11, 2011 10:58:45 PM
Photos!  Elowezil sent so much stuff, it was hard to photograph everything fairly (especially with my 4 year old helper).  There were so many photos, I made collages Smiley

Top L-R: Leopard headband with rose applique, large orange flower pin, funky heart brooch
Bottom L-R: Skull pin cushion, cigar box full of cool buttons/cords/button ring/etc, colourful photo frame, scooter note cards

Top L-R:  Various lengths of all kinds of ribbons and trims held together on a pin and worn as a hair clip in that photo, flower clutch
Bottom L-R: Necklace and bracelet with felt beads, tattoo inspired fabric, and temporary tattoos

Thanks again to Elowezil for her thoughtful and amazing package Smiley

8  Dairy & Egg Free Cupcakes in Vegetarian / Vegan by danger.kitty on: September 15, 2010 08:27:05 PM
Our eldest turned 4 on 11 Sept so it was up to me to make punk themed cupcakes for her birthday party.  Unfortunately, she's dairy-allergic so I had to work with that.  Not really that difficult since we've been dealing with it her whole life.  I modified recipes from VCTOW to come up with kids hot chocolate with marshmallow frosting and black & white cakes (really choc/vanilla swirl but with the choc coloured black).  Anyway, here is a funny picture of her deciding which type of cupcake she was going to eat...

Yay, I'm back with photos.  I tried not to overload you but everything was so cute and my kids are too so...this might be a bit pic heavy Wink
First, the zombie pinup post card and recipe cards Zombie Queen included - the recipe cards will be so much better than my little scrappy notes

There were 2 onsies for my baby girl Wren.  Such amazing embroidery on them!  I want to frame the one with her name.  Simon, my husband, says we should let her wear it until she grows out of it and then frame it (any food stains would be authentic)

(the funny hand in the second photo is Wren waving to the camera...awwww!)
Next up there is an awesome pillowcase dress for Wren that Lily tried to claim was a shirt for her (it fit too)

Now, ZQ also sent a tutu for Lily but she was over modeling by the time we got to that so instead, we have Pinky our male AmStaff wearing it!

Here are Lily and Simon.  Lily is wearing the most awesome DOTD dress!  It laces up the back corset style with red bias tape.

Lily with the 2 sock monkeys that were sent.  She conceded that the little sock monkey was for baby Wren but wanted to pose with both.

The next item could be my fave...I would so wear it!  An altered denim jacket.  Lily loved it and couldn't get over all the details.  She was pointing out the bones on the brass jacket buttons and loved the Joker pin on the collar.

Grandma saw the jacket today because Lily insisted on wearing it when we went to her house.  She sighed...then quickly pointed out that she liked the rose patch on the back for the little touch of girliness Smiley
There were also these cool leg warmers that Lily claimed.

Also, because I only have 2 kids and ZQ had 3 for me to craft for, she agreed to jack up a surprise for my husband as an extra.  Behold!  Answer Me Jesus in pink velvet (pictured here with his soul mate, Virgin Mary Money Box in blue velvet)

Zombie Queen also pm'd me to say that she forgot to put in an apron and some recipes for me and that she'd send them later.  I can't imagine any more awesomeness in this package!  I am so thankful to Maman Tattoo for finding me a partner as great as this.  I really hope my package lives up to this and that Angelica and her kids love their stuff as much as we do.

more great packages!  I really love the guitar bib and the boys skull tshirt.

I had a few minutes today to upload the photos I took before sending to Zombie_Queen and put together this teaser...just one thing I forgot to photograph didn't make it in but oh well!
