Ah, thread necromancy - so good for the ego.
Here is a closer pic of the lettering - a bit blurry.

I received from Ruby Copperhead yesterday and as I expected it was spectacular.
Ruby, apparently is a collector of Kinder Surprise stuff. It must be a bigger deal in Germany than it is here because here I think all we get is one standard size chocolate egg. So anyway, my swap was all Kinder Surprise based.
This is the first one, the death Surprise:

It has a couple of chocolate kinder Surprise eggs in it (soon to be eaten)

This is the next one, The Raven Surprise:

And inside the Raven surprise, you guessed it - eyeballs:

And finally, a tiny little Nac Mac Feegle & a Death of Rats (and a bracelet, hidden by the Feegle):

Thanks Ruby - I love everything.

I received on Monday from AKAmber, but due to an ill-conceived tidying up, I misplaced my camera for a couple of days. Now, however, here they are

They are stone (quite heavy stone too) tiles, decorated with images of Queen Elizabeth I. They are backed with felt & so I will use them as coaters.
Also included was this tea wallet

Thank you very much AKAmber. I love them. I only hope you love yours as much (and that it gets there sometime this year).

38  Air bubbles on a tin in Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions by aethelberga on: August 15, 2010 12:46:42 PM
I covered a cookie tin lid with a sheet of pc today & though I tried to get it as flat as possible, I still got air bubbles.

I took this pic in bright light & on an angle to really show the effect. It doesn't look nearly so bad when viewed straight on (and the colour is nicer too), but what can I do to minimize the problem? I believe it is a combination of air between the clay and the tin, and air actually in the clay itself, but I am more concerned about the air under the clay. Would a layer of liquid pc between the two help?

39  Steampunk K-9 in Completed Projects by aethelberga on: July 11, 2010 05:46:51 PM
I'm kind of into steampunk at the moment & I wanted to re-imagine Doctor Who's 'tin dog' as a steampunk creation, but I also wanted to prove that it doesn't really matter what materials you use to make something.

The main body is an empty spaghetti sauce jar and the rest of it is a mixture of cardboard, polymer clay, earring backs, and parts from a toy car. The wheels are cheapo thread spools that I got three for a dollar at the dollar store. Here he is from the other side.

I plan on entering him in a model show next weekend at the local sci-fi convention.
Thanks for looking.

40  Re: One Tiny Doctor Who Thing Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by aethelberga on: July 09, 2010 04:55:44 PM
I received from my brilliant partner Tabzilla today.

It's a cute Dalek jar, which will be going to my desk at work to be filled with smarties (or maybe jelly babies - it should be jelly babies). The detail is just amazing. Dalek-mad DH loves him too, and he has already been integrated into our Dalek family.

Thanks so much Tabzilla. I love him!!
