1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Keeping it Simple.. on: September 18, 2007 11:45:01 AM
So for a guy friend I wanted to make his xmas gift a really classy scarf.. so I bought 400 yards of beautiful burgundy 50/50 blend of silk and baby alpaca. (don't ask me how much it cost, you don't wanna know.)

I spent days agonizing over what stitch to use, going through book after book, making swatch after swatch.. because it was for a guy I didn't want to use shells or anything lacy, so I played with cables and ribbing, basketweave and diamonds.. but you know what I finally settled on?

Plain old seed stitch. It's so smooth it really gives the silk a chance to show off. Sometimes simplicity is the key.

Okay, so I was at the fabric store...... and outside they had a bargain bin...... I think you know what happens next in this story.

Anyhow, Bernat Boa normally runs $5-6 a ball and it was 97 cents! I bought all they had of white (about 7 balls) and then got home and realized I have no idea what I'm going to DO with it..... suggestions?
