So for a guy friend I wanted to make his xmas gift a really classy scarf.. so I bought 400 yards of beautiful burgundy 50/50 blend of silk and baby alpaca. (don't ask me how much it cost, you don't wanna know.)
I spent days agonizing over what stitch to use, going through book after book, making swatch after swatch.. because it was for a guy I didn't want to use shells or anything lacy, so I played with cables and ribbing, basketweave and diamonds.. but you know what I finally settled on?
Plain old seed stitch. It's so smooth it really gives the silk a chance to show off. Sometimes simplicity is the key.
