1  CONFIDENTIAL: Package for L in CHALLENGE 34 ENTRIES by caustic-mind on: January 04, 2009 09:27:13 AM
For Christmas I made my sister a "Death Note" cookbook filled with treats her favourite character, L, would eat. I wanted to be creative with the wrapping and I figured what better way to do so than to send the Death Note in a confidential package for L!

I used materials I found around my house to make the package:

I had no brown wrapping paper, so I found some old brown paper bags to do the trick!

I wrapped the notebook like any other gift and finished off the wrapping by tying some spare yarn around the package and stenciling L's logo with black paint and a foam brush on the front like so:

My sister fell in love with the wrapping and loved the gift before she even opened it. She was very careful not to rip the packaging and actually kept the paper too.

2  Vinyl Jacket of Doom! (A Jrock cosplay) in Costumes: Completed Projects by caustic-mind on: June 16, 2008 07:08:36 PM
So I'm almost 2 months late in posting this.... oops

Back in May I attended Anime North, an Anime Convention in Toronto, ON. I chose to cosplay a Jrocker instead of an Anime or Video Game character like Everyone else. That J rocker, was Kaoru, Guitarist of Dir en Grey.

In all, I made;
- the Jacket, made out of Vinyl and properly lined, with the help of a friend and her serger
- the multiple "patches" on the coat and pants. They we're all hand painted and torn
- The rising sun on the back as well as the two pieces that extend onto the shoulder
- the large spikes on the shoulder

The wig was purchased from cosworx.com
The spikes were found on studsandspikes.com
The pants I found at Value Village.

In all this costume took about a month and a half to completely finish. I actually didn't finish until the first day of the convention  Embarrassed.

My blood, sweat, and tears literally went into this costume, but did it ever pay off! Alot of people reconized me at the convention, or atleast more than I thought would. Someone 6 or 7 floors up in the Renaissance hotel saw me standing outside and shouted "Kaoru!" from the hotel room window and waved crazily  Cheesy

We'll here is it!

and the Original:

For bigger pictures of the costume check out my costume page on cosplay.com

If you're a member don't be afraid to leave a comment ^_^

Thanks for looking and I hope you all enjoy this costume as much as I did  Cheesy

3  Warumono!! (image heavy) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by caustic-mind on: February 26, 2008 06:18:37 PM
Warumono started out as a prototype for a stuffed "Oni" design I was working on. He's almost entirely made out of broadcloth except his feet, they're made from vinyl.

I didn't spend too much time perfecting him, figuring he was a prototype and that I would make a better one eventually. Unfortunately, while I was making him I grew attached and now I can't bring myself to remake him. Poor little Waru is stuck in his ratty state  Cry. I suppose that turns out for the better though. Warumono is Japanese for "bad-fellow" or rascal, so his ratty look suits him Tongue

I hope you all love him as much as I do Smiley

Waru has a Hyde cupcake!

Warumono standing beside an old picture of Dir en Grey. Kyo kind of inspired me to make him, or at least name him Warumono.

Criticism is welcome, Thanks for looking!   Cheesy

4  More Turtles (possibly image heavy?) in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by caustic-mind on: February 26, 2008 06:01:21 PM
Here's three more turtles made by me! Two of them were made for my friend and her brother.

The first one here was made for my friend's brother. It's smaller than the other two, so it's the baby to me. It was kind of sad when I gave him to my friend. I liked him more than the others I've made, He was just too cute XD My friend's brother loves him to piece though, so it's ok. He named him Raul...

This one was made for my friend, it's identical to the turtle from one of my past posts. I think she named it Hilary...

The three of them together:

and Raul again... just because I think he's cute XD

5  Another Hide hat in Crochet: Completed Projects by caustic-mind on: January 09, 2008 01:35:21 PM
I'm slowly getting around to posting all my projects Tongue

This one here, is a Hide hat made for my dear friend Leah. She liked the one Chelsea (Chel02) made for me, and asked me to make her one since I had no idea what to make her for Christmas. In the end she loved it Smiley

Since I had to take pictures before I gave it to her, I'm the one modeling the hat. Embarrassed

Comments and criticism are appreciated Smiley

6  Guinea Pigs in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by caustic-mind on: January 06, 2008 01:57:37 PM
I made these for my Stephy for Christmas ^_^

The pattern was a modified version of a friend's pattern. I accidentally slip stitched the whole thing, I was just learning at the time.

It took a few hours to make each one, because of my stupid careless mistake  Embarrassed

In the end Steph loved them, so it's all good  Wink

7  A very late birthday in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by caustic-mind on: January 04, 2008 09:21:17 AM
I meant to post this Dec. 20th, but it got a little pushed back  Embarrassed

Dec. 20th was Die from Dir en Grey's birthday, and since my friend had already made me a cupcake that said "Kyo," I figured I might as well give it a try and make a cupcake for Die  Cheesy

and the Birthday boy  Wink:

An old picture... but oh well. Happy 33rd Birthday, again!

That's all for now, thanks for looking  Cheesy

8  Under the Sea **slightly image heavy** in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by caustic-mind on: December 10, 2007 03:34:51 PM
Hello ^_^

I'm new to posting on craftster, though I've been a member for a while now. This is my first posted project as well as my first time crocheting. Gosh, what an adventure that was >_>

I made all of these without a pattern, they were all from scratch Smiley Sorry if the images are a little fuzzy. All Ami's were modeled by my sister while I took the pictures

These were the first two things I made. The purple... thing... is a squid, and the other is a jellyfish. I made two octopuses too but gave them to a friend and another classmate.

The turtle here is Kasumi. He was impossible to make! I stupidly chose the furry yarn (pardon my lack of knowledge on names XD) and it was near impossible for me to crochet, but hey I made it!  Grin

and last but not least... something completely off topic! My friend Leah said she wanted a mushroom, so I thought "hey! why not attempt to make one!" well I did it... and she laughed at it cause it looked like something else to her >_>

That's it for now. Thanks for looking and I'd appreciate any comments or criticism. ^_^
