11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: blungoldangel's wedding crafts (updated 4/8/09) on: April 30, 2009 03:56:04 AM
would you recommend the rit dye on satin?  i'm finding it impossible to find a blue wedding dress in my town.  bridesmaid dresses don't have pouffy enough skirts for my taste, so i'm considering dye on a regular wedding gown.  i thought of just trying it on a thrifted dress first....you know....before i ruin an expensive gown.
12  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Are wedding photographers REALLY this expensive!?!?! on: April 30, 2009 03:51:17 AM
i just found a photography student from the university to do my wedding.  her prices are very reasonable ($800-$1000) and her work is awesome!  plus she is totally open to doing the type of offbeat pics that i love.

i like the "rise up" image.  that actually comes from a susan meiselas photo she made on the nicaragua project from the late 70s/early 80s
15  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Scrap Book of 1963 Newspaper Clippings on: July 06, 2008 05:23:32 AM
you could use them in a shrine.  or redo the book with embellishments and acid free materials.  what a gem you have!

i just stumbled on this thread....YAY!  i'm in the process of cleaning out and moving into my bf's house.  i recently found a HUGE box of new crayons (at least 300 of them!).  no one seems to know where they came from, so of course i've claimed them.  thanks for all of the great ideas about how to use them!

i agree with a couple of the previous suggestions.

1) public school art rooms.  art programs are notoriously underfunded in most public school systems, so those art teachers will take what they can get.

2) petition your city council and/or county board to start a better recycling program.  you may need to do a little research, because the first thing they will want is dollars and cents.  do a search of other, similar size cities and their programs for comparison of cost and benefit.
20  Wisconsin / Wisconsin: Northeast / new green bay store on: May 25, 2008 05:02:35 AM
there's a new supply store in green bay.  it's called paper artists' connection, on s. ridge rd.  i don't think she has a website up yet, but if you're in town check it out.
