1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Elephant Hat~! on: August 17, 2009 10:32:01 AM
Long time, no post. Lately I've been working a lot on sewing a dress, blanket, and about a million hats for a table my mom was doing. But I had time to crochet this hat up. This hat has a story. For quite a while, I have pondered how to make an elephant hat. The ears, they're easy. The trunk on the other hand, could be very hard. I mentioned making a pig hat to my friend Erin, and we got to talking about my hats, and she suggested an elephant hat. Once again I pondered this, and we drew some pictures over graffiti on facebook, and the design came about. I fiddled with different ideas for it, and worked up ear and trunk patterns. I worked at it, and made this...

side view, my dad thinks it looks rude. I suppose i see his point but I love it.

And, the front view. I think it is the most exciting hat I've ever made. Comments and crits welcome, I'd love to know what all you crafters think!
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Hats for Sick Kids on: January 20, 2009 10:37:51 AM
Hey Everybody, and Happy Obama Day!!! (Although I'm not American Im still excited Tongue)

This is a project Ive been working on for the past few months. We were given a project in my leadership class to do something good for the community, to make others happy, etc. etc. and I decided to make hats for the childrens hospital. It really makes you realize everything you do have in life when you do something nice for someone else.

So in October I began making hats. I made tons of hats. Somehow a box of the hats went missing and that was slightly depressing. My initial goal was 150 hats before Christmas. I know that the box that was missing had around 80 in it, and I donated around 120. I must have completed my goal then Wink I was so proud of myself and the woman at the hospital was over the moon with my donation. She told me I donated the perfect amount because they had around 100 kids that stayed at the hospital and 20 that went to the clinic. This made me really happy, and I hope it made the kids happy too.

I really hope to do this again perhaps, but right now I need to work on my store, and stuff for this summer for a car show. Anyways, enough rambling, heres some pics (: (:

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Gift for a coworker? on: November 29, 2008 05:36:52 AM
Happy early holidays everyone!

My mom has to do a secret Santa thing at her work, and it has to be
homemade. She's stumped on what to make though. She has been sitting thinking of ideas and no ideas come. So I thought perhaps all you crafty people could help us come up with ideas. She has the whole month of December, and she knits fast and crochets fast and does pretty much every craft out there, so all suggestions will be considered.

Please give us your thoughts, as we really need them.
4  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Project for school on: September 17, 2008 02:20:08 PM
Hey everybody! This is my first time posting in this part of craftster. I'm taking a class about leadership in high school right now, and our final project will be something that we plan and organise. i was thinking about doing a bunch of preemie things, like sleepers, hats, mittens, booties, and blankets, and donating them to the hospitals. i was hoping that you guys could assist me with finding free patterns. i'd really appreciate it, because i can't afford to jsut go buy patterns as well as supplies. i'm also planning to do some form of fundraiser to help with this, i'll get donations and such to supply for this cause. but that will be within my community.. any helpful tips or patterns you can give me would be greatly appreciated Smiley
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / This could be called a geometric dress??? :P on: May 15, 2008 04:33:36 PM
This was the first dress I made in a while. It has a back zipper, and its made from this neat geometric fabric. The colours are pink, green, yellow, black and white. I used a newlook pattern but the number escapes me at the moment.... I quite rather like it but it feels too big to me. I'm very sorry for these aweful pics but my self timer blows and i suck at modeling for pics. also I am sorry for any facial expressions cause I always press the button before I'm ready then am too lazy to take another pic.... The darkness of these pictures was not intended by the way, I didn't realize how bad the lighting was till I just looked and any mess in the background is not mine its my moms cause its her room Smiley
I also have a top underneath so ignor ethe black top... Since its a bit big it looks nicer with the black top...

DRESS!

Comments, crits, and questions welcome and encouraged ^_^

Have a nice night Smiley
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Dress For Memorial Service (pic heavy-ish) on: May 15, 2008 02:31:17 PM
Good Afternoon!!

Well, tomorrow my parents and I depart for England. We are going for my granddad's ten year memorial service. I thought of making a dress in honour of the occasion, and since red was his favourite colour it must be incorporated. I saw this fabric when out at fabricland with my friend (caustic-mind) and thought it was pretty but wasn't sure. She then told me it would look nice so I ended up getting it. My mom also got a bunch and we both made dresses, but hers is for another occasion...

I was planning to use Newlook 6675 but started by cutting the pieces wrong, so i pretty much freestyled... I did however have the bodice cut out but then lost all the instructions so i freestyled that too. All in all it turned out very pretty, but it is quite short looking. The also could be because i'm tall ^_^ and my shoes are 4 inch wedge heels.... XD

I plan to wear this dress with a black crocheted bolero because its chilly in England and my white sling back white wedge heels, and i made a matching clutch which will be posted at a later date. Sorry for the book i wrote for you all Smiley and sorry for these crappy pictures, I will update with some action shots after i return...

7  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / What Kind Of Things Do YOU Want To Buy? on: March 07, 2008 04:38:02 PM
Happy Friday All!

Im here tonight asking you all, what YOU personally would like to buy on etsy. I am planning to start my etsy by the end of the month. I can crochet, do a bit of knitting but prefer not to, Im an intermediate to skilled seamstress, and I stencil. I can also do needlepoint, rug hooking, basic jewelry making, scrap booking, and most other crafts. I am curious as to what people like to buy and how much you are willing to spend.

I have quite a few designs for tops, and dresses, as well as bags and wallets I want to make and sell, but Im not sure what people want to buy.

Any help you could give to me on this matter is greatly appreciated. I hope to get feedback on this issue so I can meet the needs of potential customers in the future.

Thank you for your time,

Chel02

Any Comments Encouraged.
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Slouch Hat on: March 07, 2008 04:24:02 AM
I made this slouch hat using my own pattern last night. Its a darkish red, and it has a good fit. I only used a couple of stitches, and i think it took a little under an hour to make. I plan to make many more in many colours if people like them.

Sorry for the bad pics...

Two of the pics didn't turn out well, so i only have three...

Comments And Crits Appreciated!!!

Have a good day!

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Rest In Peace...(A Rose) *4 pics* on: March 06, 2008 02:31:35 PM
Good evening!

Well the night before last a family friend and neighbour passed away. He had been battling for his life, and had been on life support and dialysis since Christmas Day. Unfortunately he passed away...

My Mom asked me to make a rose for his wife after I had made my mom a bouquet of roses for Valentines Day. I made 6 roses tonight. I'm not posting pics of all of them because my cameras batteries were dying before I could get a shot of them all....

Well here they are.

Thank you for looking, comments and crits are appreciated.

I made the pattern myself. In the next few days I have about ten things I will be posting so be warned Tongue
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Fleece Pants! on: January 29, 2008 08:25:52 AM
Hello All Your Amazing People!

Today as i post this project of my flower print pants i listen to the song flower and am also wishing Hyde a Happy 39th birthday!!!

Welll these pants started their life as two 30' by 40' blankets i got from a dollar store. So technically they are recons, but if you think blankets are just pieces of material like i do then technically this is just a project not a recon, i could be wrong so mods feel free to move this...

Well i bought these blankets cause they were soft and cute, and then i realized that they had be be pants Tongue so they happened to be too small, so i added a long black top edge Smiley Sorry for the crappy pics, but nobody is home to take pics for me, and i'm excited to post, and i haven't mastered the self timer or bathroom mirror shots .... Oh and there are 4 pleats, one on each side of the front and back.. i made them too big for the black band so i added little pleats Smiley i think it makes them better cause it gives them shape Smiley

anywho here are my new Pj Pants Cheesy

sorry for sideways pics.... comments at criticism appreciated!!!
