I love this idea!  I have a 70's crockpot I got for free and one of my snide coworkers commented on its orange exterior, "Oh, my grandmother had one like that."  Well, I'm going to redo mine and see what she says to that! LOL

I would be willing (and eager) to organize this one.  I just need about a week to finish up my current swap and get some feedback going.  Would a month be sufficient crafting time for everyone?

Wow.. ya'll have put up some great sites to check out.  Thanks for the inspiration.  I love the 50's.  My mom has always said I was born 50 years too late lol.  I'm an 80's baby! 

I'm definetly probably going to do some embroidery for whoever my partner is.. and some sewing.  I already have some adorable ideas.  And sew_sew.. your idea about the 50's monsters/horror movie characters.. too cool!  That would be a lot of fun. 

I just got a new sewing machine for christmas.. and I've already been stocking up on retro fabrics to make some adorable little aprons.  I hope my partner likes aprons.. because I can not wait to make one!

I'd say it's very likely that you do. I mean, most come off your skin with just a bit of water (if anything at all). If you write on yourself with fabric marker you really have to scrub at it.
But they have sparkly/gel-type fabric markers.

You might want to try a stain remover called Spot Shot.  It is intended for carpeting but my family has been using it for years on clothing.  We actually used it on my sister's wedding dress when someone stepped on her train with muddy shoes! lol  I would just make sure that you wash the sweatshirt before you send it then to help get rid of the wonderful smell.

I'll pm ya for sure hon!  I have all my supplies and am working away.  I also had a funny experience...my sewing machine tried to eat Astica's sweatshirt! LOL  I have no idea what happened but it took me a full five minutes to extract it.  Strangely enough, it looks great!  Hoping to be done tomorrow for a possible early send out

Slightly off-topic but I had to throw this in.  I was getting supplies at Joanns tonight and there was this little girl who sang through out the entire store at the top of her lungs, "I'm the Queen of Pee!"

I have a funny story regarding romance stories.  Last year I was taking my writing capstone class which was all about genre.  My group had to give a presentation on the genre of romance and I chose to read aloud 3 pages from a romance novel.  I had to practice for a few hours so I wasn't busting out laughing when I had to read. "Lilly bit her lip and then whispered, 'I want you to be the first.' " 

One of my profs encouraged me to read "The Tibetan Handbook of Living and Dying."  I'm not too into Eastern religious practices but the book definitely changed my thought process about how people pass and was helpful when I had to personally experience loss (glad I read it BEFOREHAND...lol).

On a funnier note, I also love the book, "The Bad Girl's Guide to Getting What You Want."  Absolutely hilarious, especially if you are single.  As you can tell, I read just about everything.  There are a lot of classics that I wish I could say that I've read but never have.  When I buy books now I try to get a current book and a classic. 

I also love new or used books.  I have about 15 books from 1900-1945 that belonged to my grandmother and there is just something so special about them!  I also love hardcover books.  Maybe I'm just too rough on my paperback ones but I think its more that I love the idea of passing my love of reading and literature onto my children or grandchildren, the way I inherited my grandmother's.  They just hold up so much better.  Cannot wait for this to start!

Awww Jenya, I hope you are feeling better!  I spent the holiday with my 11 month old niece who we thought was teething.  Now we believe she is teething and a cold/sinus infection because my mom and I are both sicker than dogs.  This is the first morning I've been able to sit up straight at the computer without groaning!

I'm jealous of all of you who recieved sergers but I did recieve the gift I didn't think I was going to get-a dremel tool!  Astica has assured me I can use it on her hoodie or just send her an extra goodie...lol. 

I'm hoping to make it to Joann's tonight or tomorrow.  Between the holiday, being sick, and craperific roads (I love MI), it has been difficult to pick up supplies.  I shall prevail though!  Hope everyone had a great holiday season and everyone has a great and safe New Year!

I can't wait for this one.  I'm just hoping my partner's verb will allow me to use my new Dremel that I got for Christmas.  I'm currently doing the hoodie swap so no Dremel for that one...lol. 

Wait...can you use Dremel as a verb properly?  I've been using it as one for the last two days...lol.

Yeah I live in the upper penninsula of Michigan... It's very veeery cold so I always dig gettin new hoodies! Can't wait to get started!

Hi 5 to the UP-er!   I am having all around the worst week ever but am hoping to make it to the store this week to pick up supplies.  I can't wait!

This is one is on my must-watch list   I also love the idea of pairing crocheters and knitters.  My mom has tried to teach me to crochet no less than 10 times and it always ends with someone throwing the hook across the room.
