1  Re: Finishing the back of a cross stitch? in Needlework: Discussion and Questions by Tuttifruttigirl on: December 07, 2009 11:29:06 AM
Well... I would suggest you to try to get a neater back on your work. I have been cross stitching for almost 13 years and developed my own technique. I just looove to cross stitch tea towels. They come with an aida band on and all I need to do is grab a needle and floss and... ta da! No hoop needed! Take a look at a b-day gift I offered to a Portuguese friend of mine:

I can teach you... Its quite simple!  Wink

For the pieces you have already stitched, I would suggest you to Google for finishings... There are such neat ideas out there! I suggest you to take a look here:

Hugs from sunny Brazil!

I would stitch on a band of fabric and then sew it to a tea towel. No way anyone would see the back part of it (feel free to mess it as much as you please! LOL) neither you would have any unravel/shred incident as time passes by.
Take a look at this girl's work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lilabordados/
She is a friend of mine and had already finished a few pieces for me. We are both in Brazil, tho...
I cross stitch for the past almost 13 years and have  a pretty neat back on all my pieces. You can see it here:

Can teach you easily if you want me to.  Smiley
