1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Weekender bag: black and white and red all over on: March 02, 2009 07:59:02 AM
Amazing looking bag. I love the print. I have been looking at this pattern for a long time.

I have a white background fabric as well (another Alexander Henry print) and I am hesitant to make the Weekender out of it due to the dirt factor.

Any thoughts?
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Drawstring Tote: Funky, Fun, Fabric on: June 23, 2008 07:11:04 PM
I acquired a sewing machine and taught myself to sew in the middle of a very rough graduate school program. I came home for a long weekend with a dress that I had made out of a sheet (had sewing machine for a few weeks at that point) and my dad said "uh you made that? You might have missed your calling"

Thanks dad!  Grin hehe
3  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Re: New Look 6613 - Toddler Dress - I've made over 50 of these dresses on: May 27, 2008 10:01:36 PM
I've made two of these dresses- one was a Tinkerbell pattern as a gift (so no pictures  Sad ) and the other one just needs the straps attached and the bow sewed on. I think I'm going to put a ruffle on it with the same bow material but that might be too tricky.

I have some great fire department fabric that I bought at Joanns, I'm going to make a dress out of it as another gift. I just don't know if I should do the whole dress in the same fabric pattern or if I should make the top part red with a red ruffle on the bottom. hmm.

Any ideas or more pictures?
4  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / Re: WHO WANTS TO CRAFT W? ME????? on: April 22, 2008 09:21:31 PM
I'm 23 (also female, single, no kids...)

I sew. I can't knit for beans (my grandma's tried teaching me a few times but we each give up). I've done some jewelry making in my past but nothing to sell.

I'd definitely be interested in hanging, I'm in western suffolk near every major highway imaginable. You?
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: TUTORIAL - Easy Peasey way to Set Snaps on a Wallet on: April 22, 2008 07:58:39 PM
I bought a special snap plier tool on sale too and it failed me miserably. I have one that holds the 2 pieces together too and then you use a hammer... it doesn't work well either. I've gone through 2 boxes of snaps and only have 2 wallets to show for it  Angry

I'm going to try this method. Thanks!

wow, I want one too!

I guess I'm going to have to find that fabric at Joann's, it looks great.
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Amy Butler Bias Tape bag on: March 16, 2008 06:17:03 PM
I saw this tutorial as well and had the same concern about the handles- I was thinking about making my own bias tape to be able to make the handles thicker

I love it!

I made one too- the most complex bag I've made yet! What did you use to get yours to stand up so straight?
9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Fashion Checkbook Clutch from Amy Butler's book on: March 04, 2008 04:05:51 PM
I have the book but I haven't made anything out of it yet- I'm too scared!

You have inspired me to try this as my first project from the book- I think my mom would love it for a birthday present.
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Good/Girly Girl Swap? on: March 03, 2008 09:10:15 PM
I would be in!

I know I have to get my 15 posts done. I've read this site backwards and forwards but just started posting. I know that you guys don't bite. However, I'm definitely still too shy to post my sewing. Maybe I'll have the guts sometime soon Wink
