1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / evening bag - round and handle doubles as wrist strap? on: October 01, 2008 07:59:29 PM
Does anyone have a pattern for a bag like this??  I saw this once at a craft fair and loved the idea.  It's a small round evening bag with 2 handles...one long loop and one shorter loop.  The longer loop goes through the short loop to become the wrist strap (and close the purse).  The bag hangs like a perfect little circle around your wrist.  I made one but it didn't come out quite like I wanted.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / sha sha dream bags and my new diaper bag/backpack on: November 20, 2007 08:59:58 PM
I haven't posted much but I frequently lurk and get inspired by all the wonderful projects that I see.  I made my SIL a diaper bag in July for her birthday.  It was good for my first try (with no pattern or anything) but I definitely learned some things along the way.  (sorry, no pics)

Fast forward to last week.....I wanted to make my Mom and my sister sha sha dream bags.  I LOVE them!  Here they are:

Yes, I know the butterflies are upside-down....they face the right way on the other side of the bag.  I probably could have cut it in 2 pieces but I honesly didn't think about it while I was making it.....now I know for next time.  Smiley

Now on to my new bag.  I bought this fabric back in July....fell in love with it!  Since then my diaper bag broke and I've been using one of the free ones I got when DS (or DD, can't remember) was born.  It's fine but has none of the features I wanted.  So, I finally got inspired to make my bag.  It didn't take me very long at all!  (maybe 5 or 6 hours total including cutting pieces and adding interfacing)  I finished it just now and absolutely LOVE it!!  There's nothing more satisfying than making something for yourself that you love.  Smiley

The whole bag

My second zipper ever (first on a bag)

The inside (has 2 large pockets (diapers and wipes) at the back and one small blue pocket for keys on the side near the top)

I made the strap so it converts from backpack to messenger style.  There are clips on the ends of the straps and loops on the bag to attach it.

I definitely made some mistakes but I'm pretty happy with it.  It was my first really big project.  I'm going to make one for my friend who's having twins so I think her's will come out great since I worked the bugs out on mine.  Smiley

What do you think?

3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / doll's Halloween Costume on: October 22, 2007 04:40:31 AM
So my daughter is 2 and she carries her baby EVERYWHERE!  When I mentioned Halloween and her costume she immediately asked if her baby could be one too (she's going to be a cat).  I thought for a minute and decided that I could make her baby a costume....a mouse costume.  It's not perfect but she LOVES it and it only took about an hour.  Without further ado...

4  COOKING / Dessert / castle cake on: October 05, 2007 10:39:23 AM
I made this cake for my son for his 4th bday in May.  He wanted a castle and I had seen a similar one in a magazine (or online).

It's not the greatest castle cake ever but my son LOVED it!  Smiley
