21  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / wrestler on: January 31, 2012 08:45:15 AM

wrestler embroidery on quilters cotton, then teastained to finish. Not too happy with it, I think he's a bit 'flat' but it was fun to do.

Thanks for looking x
22  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Oliver Jeffers embroidery on: January 17, 2012 07:19:50 AM

This is an embroidered hoop based on an Oliver Jeffers illustration from one of my son's favourite books (How to catch a star). I made it for his room which has a space theme!
It's on blue quilters cotton and I kept it simple with the stitches just, back stitch, split stitch and satin stitch.

Thanks for looking  Cheesy
23  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sailor Jerry flash on: March 28, 2009 10:01:04 AM
I did this framed embroidery for the IYP swap. It has gone a little rumpled so please excuse the wrinkles  Wink Hopefully a good iron should sort it out!
The design is from Sailor Jerry tatto flash- I love old school pin-ups!

thanks for looking! x
24  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / embroidered mirror backs on: March 28, 2009 09:57:33 AM
I did these minature embroideries for the IYP swap. Both are based on vintage tattoo flash designs:

Thanks for looking!
25  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / pink martini drinkin' poodle (M O'C) on: March 28, 2009 09:56:00 AM

I made this tea towel for Amyracinrose in the IYP swap- the image is a Mitch O'Connell drawing from his tattoo book.
Who doesn't want a cocktail drinking pooch?!
26  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Angelique Houtkamp girl on: March 03, 2009 01:14:15 AM

I did this for a swap with Lilyvanilli, she's on a tote bag. The image is artwork by Angelique Houtkamp (check her out http://www.salonserpent.com/Home.html ).
I used split stitch, back stitch, satin stitch and long and short stitch (most of the fill stitching is long and short). I like how the shading on her dress came out.
Gosh, it's been an age since I last posted on the Craftster needlework boards- it's good to be back!
27  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Hello Sailor tote on: September 16, 2008 10:34:24 AM
Now that it's reached it's new home I thought I'd share something I made for sprklgrl81. Like me she loves nautical themes so :

You can't go wrong with a bit of Sailor Jerry flash!
28  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Houtkamp sailor girl on: September 13, 2008 09:39:26 AM

This is based on an Angelique Houtkamp painting - http://www.salonserpent.com/Previous.html
I'm very into Angelique's work at the moment this is the third Angelique inspired thing I've done. I was pleased with how the flowers came out ('scuse the rumples this close up was taken prior to ironing and framing)
I used those rayon threads a lot on this piece and love the shiny, silky look they give.
29  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Mitch O'Connell clown on: September 13, 2008 09:31:47 AM

I know a lot of people who visit these boards love Mitch O'Connell and so do I! This is based on an image in his tattoo book.
Yes, it's a bit creepy but I love this clown Cheesy
I used mostly split stitch, long and short stitch and satin stitch and it's on a piece of quilters cotton, I plan to frame it.
Here's a close up which has come out distorted and thus even more creepy, but show's the stitches a little better

(ps for those who like to see loadsa pics there are a couple more on my blog x)
30  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Tattooed girl for KatieKutthroat on: August 26, 2008 03:15:53 PM
This is for KatieKutthroat, it's based on an Angelique HoutKamp illustration (http://www.salonserpent.com/Home.html)  I thought it was appropriate desig for Katie as she's a fan of tattoos! I hope she likes it. I'm contemplating sewing it onto a tote instead of leaving in the hoop frame- what do people think?

and a close up to show how I did the hair

The colours are a little off in these photos, but if you can't tell she's in shade of brown and there are some metallic highlights in the hair- I was going for a retro sepia look.
