1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / stumpwork(ish) eyeball on: October 19, 2012 09:41:15 AM

I wanted to make something for a give away on my blog so i was thinking "what would be halloweenish that i could do in a sort of stumpwork style?"
So yes, I made a 3D eyeball that GLOWS IN THE DARK -this is the sort of thing that makes me happy   Grin
Thanks for having a look - i'd love to know what you think x
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / WINE makes me clever on: October 01, 2012 10:55:18 AM

This cartoon by Andy Riley is from the book 'Great lies to tell small kids'  Wink
I stitched it up because it makes me laugh!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Magpie stumpwork on: October 01, 2012 10:49:28 AM

Magpies are my favourite bird so it was about time I embroidered another one!
This little guy is slightly padded to make him more lifelike and I used fabric paints for the background. I used some wool and silk strings for texture on the tree stump.
Thanks for taking a look!  Grin
4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Pregnant hippie on: August 10, 2012 11:56:03 AM
This was done for the Phat Quarter (flickr embroidery group) swap. The theme was 1970's and this is based on a photo from the 1970 Isle of Wight festival. All stitched in one strand of a space-dyed silk thread.

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / stitched pendant on: July 20, 2012 12:57:21 PM

As a confirmed embroidery addict I've wanted to try embroidered jewellry for a while and this is my first attempt- I used silk floss on linen and added a ladybird charm to the chain. It was for the Craftster insect swap. I think it is a bit wonky but was quite pleased for a first attempt! I just need to work out how to mount it without the linen getting skewed like it is at the top on this one- I'm thinking that a pendant that is more like a frame (where you mount the piece from the back) might be better?
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / cushions! on: July 20, 2012 12:50:00 PM
I made both of these for swaps here on craftster
First bugs on a fabric I found in IKEA

and some details;

and this dragon cushion- I'm not good a drawing dragons but with the help of a tute he came out ok!
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / flamingo-go-go on: July 20, 2012 12:46:38 PM
I did this for a swap, a (whisper) non-craftster swap
Thought you guys might like to see it though Wink

I think she came out quite cute- I love anthropomorphic animals, think I will be doing more of this type of animal 'portrait'
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / several stumpworked pieces on: July 20, 2012 12:42:37 PM
I haven't posted anything here for ages so thought it best to combine a few in one post rather than clogging up the whole board!!!
First up is a butterfly I just made for the insect swap

Then there is a bluejay I made for ongoing hoopla r6
(thanks to Homerof2 for the great photo of this- I didn't take one before sending Roll Eyes )

And then this ammonite- my favourite bit of stumpwork I've ever done for Samsara in the UK only swap

I think I have a stumpwork addiction  Grin
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / DOTD owl on: April 28, 2012 01:56:46 AM
Can't believe I didn't post this already. Also this might be better off in the toys and playthings board but the decoration is needlework and this board is my HOME so I'm not leaving unless I have to!!!  Wink
Ok here he is;

I made his for Painted Sparrow in the anything goes needlework swap. I'd seen a dotd owl design on her pinterest so set about designing my own. If you wanted to make one the embroidery pattern can be found on my blog.
Thanks for looking x
10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / stumpwork owl, felt fox and crewel critters! (pic heavy) on: April 28, 2012 01:48:27 AM
I didn't want to clog up the board with a whole heap of projects so am posting these three together. They made up my swap package for spidermom in the anything goes needlework swap.
The stumpwork owl;

and in profile:

The branch is a raised stem band stitch, the leaves are raised leaf stitch (fancy that) and the owl is a padded slip

The felt fox:

based on an ornament in the book falalala felt

And lastly some crewelwork woodland critters:

I just noticed how wonky the hill is- whoops! I was going for a retro feel with the colours and the use of wool
