What a cool idea.  I can't wait to see the finished dress.

I like the wrapping fabric thing either to use up not so loved fabric or to color coordinate for room decor.  I'm curious to see the square one and how to do the bottom, maybe just back and forth in rows?

This reminds me of my cactus pin cushion I made, only I didn't wrap the cord with fabric.  I zigzagged it then painted it to look like a terra cotta pot.
353  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: River Stones - placemats, bowls, platters on: August 12, 2007 05:50:11 AM
I love the bowl and platter.  I saw the place mats and had an idea for you.  I make frames similar to this and you could make the placemats with some slight changes.  I would use thin plywood and back it with felt so it wont scratch any surfaces.  I use tile adhesive to glue the rocks on and then cover with clear acrylic spray.  Here is a phot

Good luck!

I am soooo glad I checked back to see if you explained how to make this.  I've already dug out some not so favorite fabric to see if i could make one.  Then I'll try it with the good stuff

Thank you so much!
355  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Scrappy Recycled Quilt! on: August 11, 2007 12:44:37 PM
That is one awesome quilt.  Seeing your quilt makes me want to rehash my project list.  Recycling the shirts and putting those colors together are fabulous.

As for a name - it makes me think of a hunting/fishing cabin or lodge.  A weekend getaway in the woods.

That is just beautiful.  You did a great job with all the accessories too.  I love the dust ruffles, pillows and curtains.  I'm sure whatever you choose for the headboard will be great too.
357  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: I finished this Patience Square Quilt while reading posts on here tonight. on: August 11, 2007 06:24:10 AM
I can only do this for hand sewing and was finishing the binding last night.  My "trick" would be to not scroll down the page until I sew 3 or 4 inches. I have to set a limit, otherwise, I would NEVER get done   When I was quilting this I used a 18 inch hoop instead of a large frame so its more portable.   Also, I have the computer screen resolution set to 1600 x 1200 pixals so the content of window is small and there is more content on it.  And just page down every couple of minutes.

Thank you, I don't know if I was more excited that I finally got this one done or that I could start on something new on machine.  I have a few other projects line up to get done by christmas, inculding another quilt.

I have been working on this Patience Square quilt for a few weeks. This is the second hand-pieced quilt i've done.  I made it for my teen-age daughter.  There is significance in the name! LOL

I've been hand sewing the binding every night while I read craftster posts. You folks are truly inspirational!

Here is the back, I love seeing the pattern on the back of a quilt.

I'm revving up that sewing machine after this - no more hand-piecing for a long, long time.  Woo Hooo!!!

Awesome idea - and just in time for the holiday festivities or this weekend!

Thanks to YOU!!! - your post just gave me the coolest ideas.

As for the crib set - I see scalloped edge matching curtains with a toy on each scallop in the near future - lol. Just kidding!
