21  Firemans Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by habitat-lady on: December 29, 2008 01:53:25 AM
My friend wanted something special for her hubby for Christmas.  So after she gathered up a bunch of t-shirts, I made this quilt.

Thanks for looking.

22  Butterfly House for Habitat for Humanity in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by habitat-lady on: November 10, 2008 08:35:44 PM
A local Habitat affiliate hosted an auction of bird and butterfly houses.  I painted three of them for the auction and mine raised a few hundred dollars.  I was so proud!
Here is the best one.  I've never painted a butterfly house and I wanted it to be very different.  I put a quote from Sir Winston Churchhill on the roof "You make a living with what you get, you make a life with what you give."

Tell me what you think!!!

23  Time for herds of pinecone reindeer in Winter Holidays by habitat-lady on: October 01, 2008 04:12:48 AM
Each year about this time my kids and I go to the park and pick up pine cones, big ones, little ones and the ones chewed up by squirrels.  Then we grab glue guns and make a lot of these little reindeer.

This one is a little drunk . . .

25  New handle look in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by habitat-lady on: March 16, 2008 11:28:58 AM
I had some cheap upholstery remnants and wanted to try a different/unique handle for some bags.  This is what I came up with.

I tried covering some beads with polyclay in a matching color for a handle, I ended up with crappy airpockets.  So, I went with a medley of dark beads.  It's funny, it turned out kind of cute and nautical.  I'll probably use this one!

Comments/critique welcome.

26  Re: Spoon/star necklace! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by habitat-lady on: December 30, 2007 08:44:54 PM
Sweets, I love the spoon.  I have made a few of these pendants with my dremel.  I used the polishing tool and polish to clean up.

As for where to find dremels - Walmart used to carry them, I got a $50 set in a small case.  Then I bought a variable speed with the router base, chainsaw sharpener, and lots of other bells and whistles.  Do yourself a favor and get a flexishaft if you dont have one, its like holding a pen. And THEN I found this $16.00 knock-off brand at sams clubearlier this year. Awesome deal with lots of tips.  Here is the one from Sams

Everything is interchangable with the dremel brand.

27  Re: Holiday Cookie/Candy/Recipe Swap Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by habitat-lady on: December 16, 2007 11:53:01 AM
I received from Dragonslair.  Just read all the crap about the post office.

Get this - postman delivered when I was gone yesterday.  Empty two-car carport with a table by the door for packages and its pouring down rain - dumb-%*#& postman leaves my package in the rain at the front door, about 30 feet farther for him to walk (in the rain) also.  I hope he got soaked.

Good news is, Dragonslair not only makes the best Ginger Snap I've ever had, but shes smart too.  She packed them in plastic containers.

I see the recipes have been posted - try those ginger snaps - so delicious.

Thanks Dragonslair.
