1  Wire, beads & broken mosaic tiles. in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by habitat-lady on: March 20, 2011 05:34:11 PM
A group of friends gather at least once a month for craft night.  One doing mosaics cut some tile wrong and was headed to the trash.  My response was "You're throwing those out!?!"
I recycled them into pendants for a necklace, dug out wire and some beads that matched perfectly!  And 30 minutes later here is my creation, with earrings to match.  c&c always welcome!

2  Slaying a Dragon in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by habitat-lady on: January 30, 2011 11:52:27 AM
I want to paint a dragon for my son's birthday in July.  First step is trying to get dragon sketching skills down and not have my monster look comical.
I want a ferocious beast, not a fatty that looks like he ate a village, and couldn't fly away.  So lets hope I can tame my pencil.

This one looks more like a dinosaur.

I plan on using acrylic for the painting.  Any tips for drawing a rocking man-eating beast?

3  Re: Steampunk Christmas Ornament Swap (Send outs 12/8) in The Swap Gallery by habitat-lady on: December 15, 2010 10:25:48 AM
The last of my ornaments from ceemonster and Ashgrim. Sigh.  If there was ever a swap I wanted to be in year-round, this would be it.

From Ashgrim a wonderful ornament complete with gears and buttons and snowflakes.  And I love that big key at the bottom and the the way you wrapped it in wire. Thank you!

And Ceemonster sent an airship that commands the sky.  I'm proud to have her majesty's ship on my tree. Love the teal-metallic color.   Its beautiful, and thank you.

Thank you to Alchamy513 for a great swap!  You're a fabulous organizer!

I received from Eukarya, Bookstorebabe and Pogo in the past few days, but knew I wouldn't have a chance to take pics and post until today, so I waited and opened all three this morning!  All so beautiful!

From Eukarya - a delicate handpainted egg ornament with a reindeer and Christmas trees.  I love it, Thank you so much.

From Bookstorebabe - Thank you for a wonderfully creative ornament, like a small windchime.  I've already tapped the back of a small kid paw to keep her away from it.  Very cool!

From Pogo - A beautiful star in dark blue metallic clay, complete with gears.  It is so lovely, thank you.

What a great Saturday morning!  We should really do steampunk ornament swaps throughout the year.  LOL

Received two beautiful bookmarks from Onyxnox.  Sewn with ribbons and fabric. I love the colors.  Thank you, they will get much use.

I managed to get a good close-up of the flower & beading.

I'm late in posting receives, and my apologies to my swap partners for my tardiness.  Here is a beautiful bookmark from Onecrazymom.

She nailed me on the greens; I didn't mention it in the Q&A. And I love the quote on it.  Thank you so much!

Two from Hippiekender.  One in use with moon and stars, and an awesome origami corner marker.

Very cool and many thanks!

Here is a lovely bookmark from Squire_inaria with celestial bookmark love.  The quote is "There they stand, the innumerable stars. Shining in order like a living hymn, written in light."
It's beautiful and thank you so much.

And from Cassiecate57, a polkadot delight corner bookmark, rocking a wonderful Vonnegut phrase,
 "So it goes."

I do love that paper!  Thank you, Cassiecate!

And Correlating - I missed your envelope this morning when I grabbed the stack to mail.  It will go out tomorrow. MAILED!

From the Official Swap, I received from blupaisan, homerof2, and michela.  Thanks to all of you.

blupaisan sent a lovely bookmark in honor of the trees.  Very fitting for my big book of Organic Gardening.

Homerof2 crosstitched Tulips. One of my favorite flowers.  Did you order this thin plastic?  I looked at Michaels and Hobbly Lobby for some of this.

Michela made this awesome bookmark.  The beads and charms are perfect. Love the colors.

9  A Craftster swap inspired me! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by habitat-lady on: July 24, 2010 03:34:03 PM
After doing the Steampunk Charm swap http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=349575.0, I was inspired.  I tried new things and loved them!

So I have been creating a bit more.  Here are a few so far:
This is my favorite NOW.

This one was a surprise.  I bought the wooden things to put some postage stamps (with naked lady art) and make them pendants.  I love this too, though.  The copper wire at the bottom is getting replaced with watchwinders, and then I think it will look awesome.

And I started really using polyclay.  Up to now, I always had air bubbles and fingermarks.  Got disgusted at the waste of supplies and time.  So I studied the Polyclay posts for the past few weeks, and a bunch of other websites to try to get better at it.

And I had trouble sticking to keeping things under an inch for the swap.  My partners agreed to go a little bigger, so that was cool for the swap.  But now, my personal goal is to make 20 small steampunk charms under an inch.
My self-inflicted punishment is really becoming quite enjoyable!  LOL

C&C is greatly appreciated.  And if you have any awesome tips for polyclay, please feel free to share.

The bubble wrap stuck to the resin, but I think with another thin coat of resin, I can fix it.

From Sweetyetevil  A delightful charm with a wasp. So pretty! Please whisper where you got the watch face parts. Thank you.

And from Emo Penguin toast - This charm looks so dainty and delicate, yet made of metal.  How cool is that?  Thank you.

From Ceemonster, so awesome, it reminds me of a directional cartographic symbol for air travel.  And the card was a bonus gift.  Thank you.

From Loopylamb, these are so cute. Love the bottle caps.  And the love the extra charm.  Thank you.
