Nice! When I first saw it I thought, "Hey! This person had a dragon hatch in her back yard!"
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Reception Desk Pen Security on: December 02, 2011 12:19:42 PM
This is an oldie but a goodie.

Receptionists know how impossible it is to keep pens at their desks; their desks seem to be a free-for-all that the entire office to help themselves to whatever they want. And if someone asks to "borrow" a pen, it is likely never to come back.

So many of us do this:

It's just silk flowers, hot-glued to the top of Stik Pens, wrapped in floral tape, and stuck in a vase.

If someone asks to borrow a pen, hand them one of these. It's a cute surprise and it's highly unlikely they'll walk off with it. And even if they do walk off with it, it's easy to find it again.

Amazing! And thanks for sharing the process for the legs - a fawn just doesn't look right unless you get the legs!

I am trying VERY hard right now not to scream at how incredibly AWESOME the fat Wonder Woman hoop is.

Absolutely, positively, awesome.

The flower and hedgehog hoops are really adorable. And I gotta' say; I'm a fan of the french knots.  Wink

But the Braille one is particularly meaningful, now that we've learned the story. Very moving.

In running, they say "The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start." And I have to agree with it, in that context.

But I've learned that in crafting, the exact opposite is true. Most people can learn to stitch, knit, sew, sculpt, glue, draw, or any other number of techniques. I have an entire craft room full of supplies for projects I've started. But most people don't have the perseverance to finish a masterpiece like this!  In crafting, the miracle is actually FINISHING the project! Well done!
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Nyan Cat Scarf on: October 07, 2011 08:58:22 PM
Like many people, I am on Facebook. A few days ago one of my friends posted a link on her wall of a Nyan Cat scarf, http://www.themarysue.com/nyan-cat-scarf-pattern/, and mentioned wishing she had a scarf of her own. I immediately took up the challenge! I took a look at the scarf and decided to make my own pattern.

It took a day, a trip to the store to buy some yarn (I seem to always be out of a color I need), and a few episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. And countless repeats of the Nyan Cat on youtube. I have officially cute-ed myself out.

p.s. Those "double rainbow" hand warmers I'm wearing are also going to go to my friend. Two! Two internet memes in one present!

... it's starting to look like a TRIPLE RAINBOW! OH MY GOD! WOOOOOO! WOOOO HOOOOOOO! SOMEBODY HELP ME! WHAT DOES IT MEAN!?

Seriously, though. I love it. I want a Nyan Cat scarf.

Are those  all french knots?Huh Aaaaawesome!!!!

Yup. All French knots. I outlined the letters in backstitch and then just knotted and knotted and knotted. It was very zen.

That's why when we were discussing "what we watch" while stitching (in the discussion thread), I listed a bunch of miniseries and movies. It took a while. :-P
