i saw the flip flop swap gallery and loveeeeed it. too bad i missed it . so i was thinking all of you lovely craftsters would like to do another flip flop swap. because i adore flip flops, and i'm sure all of you are addicted too .
i couldn't organize, as i haven't been in any organized swaps .. though i have swapped items with other users.
but yeah, you could buy some cheap fllip-flops and decorate them to your partners liking!
if we did i 1 or two week signup we could have the send-out date by mid-august and still have some wear for the summer and for school while its still hot!!
my mom was on ebay the other day, and found an autographed bernie carbo hat. her favorite player. i bid on it for her, and she told me to go up to $16. so i got to that and was outbid. she told me to go up to $18, then i was outbid again. she told me to bid again, and i said, are you sure? she said yes, so i bid, but by then it was too alte, and i lost. i lost both times, there were two hats. and now i'm upset cause she really wanted the hat. and her 50th birthday is coming up, so i want to find a Red Sox autographed BErnie Carbo hat, but the only one on ebay is $60.00. any ideas where i can find another?
So I bought a few yards of $2.00 black corduroy at Wal-mart the other day to make a messenger bag. but then i fell in love with a bag at JCPenney and bought that instead. heh, so much for making one. soo then i was cleaning my room today and found a favorite pair of cords that i loveee but have a hole in the butt and the knee (the mice, i swear, jess!! ). so i want some new cords.
i have a pair of jeans that fit perfect, and i'd like to make a pattern with these, BUT, i don't want to rip them apart - i still want to be able to wear them. is there any way to make a pattern with my jeans to make some new cords? any advice is appreciated!!
sooo i made a black belt at school one day when i was bored. and i brought it home and i loved it but it was too plain. sooooo, d (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=24124) sent me a lot of AMAZING bottlecaps from Holland (i believe, lol), and i sent her some pretty beads. so i punched some holes in the bottle caps with a hammer and nail, and sewed them on a belt. it took me forever but i loveeeeeeeeee it so i don't care. i just won't ever make another. hah, just kidding .
so i went to wal-mart today and got a bucn h of cheap fabric that i loveeee. this one is my favorite. i made a pink and black "circle" skirt and i love it so i want like 54654687654189 of them. so i made a circle skirt. it has a t-shirt waistband. it's a little big so i need to take it in a tiny bit, and i still need to hem it.
Yeah, so this started out as a square skirt. Just pink. But it was wicked short in places. So i put some other black square underneath, the long pieces showing where the short pink was. I didn't really like it. So I pinned up the corners and now it's uh, kind of a circle skirt? Just not really cut along the bottom as a circle. I wore it today, and got like 5242634795884256 compliments. They all asked where I got it, too. . That made me quite happy, as it was my 3rd project, and 1st without a pattern! I don't really know how long it took, I did the first version in about 20 minutes, but then I forgot about it and went back to it, and again, and again ... So yeah. Both fabrics are just plain cotton, and the waistband is an old black t-shirt. I love it !
yeah, so i was attempting to sew my neighbor a white pillow today. and whenever i would press the pedal, it make this clanking noise. so i was like, what the hell? i just kept going, and i noticed my thread was turning black, and i realized that couldnt be too good. so i stopped and was taking out the stitching, and my machine started to smell ucky. and ideas on what could be wrong?
so this was pretty easy, except the ruffles. i despise rounded seams! but it came out good in the end. .
i got the fabric on sale at Jo-Ann's for about $7 a yard , but it's pretty and silky, so it's good.
it took me less time to make than my pants, about 10 days .. probably about 6 hours or so. i had to take it out a bit in the hips, and it's still a tad snug, but it fits perfectly. it kind of angles down on the side too. elastic waist.
i used simplicity 5100.
i reallyyyy like it, and hopefully i will be making more. enjoy, and let me know what you think!!
