I have been doing very basic sewing (hemming pants and simple curtains), and I tried to make a bag once, but it came out horrible, so I stuck to the simple. But then I saw this fruit fabric and knew it would be perfect for a lunch bag- especially because my new year's resolution is to pack my lunches for work more often (for both economical and weight-loss reasons.) I had to make the lining longer to fold over since I didn't have too much of the fruit print (it was cheap in a scrap sale.)
So here it is, my very first lunch bag (I slightly modified instructions from the tote design in this book:
http://www.makeworkshop.com/content/sewbook/sewbook.html to make it lunch size and fold the lining over.) I'm very proud of it and inspired to make more things. The book makes it really easy, btw!
