1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Terry Kimbrough Baby Afghan on: June 24, 2008 07:22:42 AM
I have had that experience as well.  I am sorry to hear so many of you talented folks have the same issue!  Cry Your blanket is phenomenal and I only wish i had time to make some that are that nice!
I get fleece blankets and crochet borders and embroider the child's name.  The last one I did was for a friend of the family who said "Yay another blanket just what I needed!" (in a very sarcastic manner) rolled her eyes and tossed it under the stroller.  I have never seen the blanket since.  After grueling over it for a few weeks and re-stitching the name 3 times, you would think I would get a little more appreciation.  Some people just don't get how much us crafty people put our heart into what we do.  And YOUR blanket is sooo delicate and you can tell it took you alot of time and devotion.  Well if she didn't appreciate it, at least you know we craftster peeps do!
(BTW, did she know YOU made it?  Sometimes when I give handmade gifts, they aren't received well until they know I made it, then they really think about the time and effort that went into it.)

Better luck next time, don't let it get you down!

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Day of the Dad wooden box recon (lotso' pics) on: October 23, 2007 08:26:30 AM
Great job!!  Smiley

Also, kudos on the crackle finish, I can never seem to get my crackle medium to co-operate.  However in one instance it was a blessing because I got the coolest finish ever as I attempted to sand off all the paint.  (Reminder to self: POST YOUR BOXES DAMMIT!!)  I will post them eventually so you see what I mean.

Again, great work, and nice job on the lining too.  Mine always come out a little crooked...  Undecided haha
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: B&W Portraits on: October 12, 2007 08:12:00 AM
WOW!   Shocked  Very nicely done!

Do you use a stencil, grid, or just freehand??  Your Dylan & Hendrix are spot on!

My mother paints, and sadly it is not my forte, so I have the greatest respect for painters.
4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: HISTORICAL FIGURE SWAP SPOILER! Little Frida! on: October 07, 2007 08:29:04 AM
Fellow-Frida fanatic finds this craft friggin fantastic!

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Re: My ferret, Tonics Halloween Costume on: October 07, 2007 07:39:52 AM
I also have a white (non-albino) ferret!  Mine's is Bean (short for Senor Butterbean Burrito)  He HATES wearing clothes!

Oh how I wish I could get him to wear something like this for Halloween tho!  Even if only for a few moments to get a picture!  He has a red t-shirt that I try to squeeze him in every once in a while and it always turns into a large cumberbund within minutes, but at least it is good for a giggle.

And for anyone who does not like ferrets, I am sorry for you, because my day always seems brighter because of my little guy.  The silly things they do make you laugh until you pee at times, and that more than makes up for them being a little skunky.  Grin
6  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Re: Long-time lurker Breaks the Silence, more tonight @ 11, haha on: October 07, 2007 07:27:32 AM
Undecided  There was no more at 11... I was only kidding... Hope no one was taking that literally... haha Grin
7  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: I made a mini "Yip-yip" alien! on: October 06, 2007 07:15:24 AM
Well isnt everyone just SHOWERING you with compliments!  I have to agree!

And I am very pleased to know that there were other people paying attention in those days.  My mother and I used to watch Sesame street everyday.  Favorites: The yip-yips and the number pinball.  I totally need a yip yip now. And the only thing that could be better is a Manah-Mana from The Muppet Show (remember him??)

Thanks for inspiring a GOOD trip down memory lane!
8  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Re: bfnw west virginia sends it love! on: October 05, 2007 07:35:48 AM
Not actually a WV-ian, but close, I am about 15 minutes from the WV border.  I am totally with you on all the ufo's and re-purposed fo's haha!  I am the same way.  My husband gets so ticked when I start buying new stuff... he says "don't you have beads/fabric/etc at home"  I say "Yeah but not like THESE ones!" haha!

Glad to meet a fellow obsessively compulsive crafter with a short attention span!  Grin

Ok, so I don't remember how I stumbled upon Craftster (almost a year ago) but you all have inspired me so much, I thought I should break the silence and say hello! So...um... HI!

About me:
# I have been crafting for as long as I can remember.
# I have never sold anything I have made.  (Not that it isn't good stuff, I just don't push really hard, and I seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time)
# I crochet, decoupage, make beaded jewelery, paint pewter minis, and my new obsession is embroidery.
# I am a cheapass... Smiley I will make before I buy, if I have the time or skill to do it.
# I can't knit to save my life.  I have tried (a few years ago) but my grandmother is convinced she can teach me, so I guess I will have to try again.
# My husband doesn't understand how/why I can buy something (fabric remnant, beads, etc) without having a specific plan for the item.

Currently I am working on 2 baby blankets, embroidered onsies, stuffies and booties for all the babies being born around me.  My step-sis, sis-in-law and friend are all all due between now and February, so I best get crackin!

I have made alot of things prior to joining here, and I will post them periodically.

Oh, and side note (not to sound like a B*tch) I have noticed everyone on here is so nice and polite... if my stuff is crap, do not hesitate to tell me so!  Grin I can take honest criticism!!

I look forward to getting to know all of you.
