Its not a silly question at all!!!
I use pva glue (not sure what its called in the US) watered down to "glaze" him and I mix a little fragrance with that so he smells all over!

Some people! Im sure Im not the only one on here who would say a handmade gift would mean 100 times more to me than a shop bought one, but I guess thats why we all get along so well on here we all have that in common!
To be honest if it were me I would probably buy the child something very inexpensive and small and tell the mother that money is tight and as you dont like handmade gifts that was all I could come up with.
Surely she will be pleased with anything as long as its shop bought Wink

It was a frangrance oil called "splendour" It smells fruity, spicy, and just christmassy!!!!

He's quite large! 9"!!!! So I would probably put him in the kitchen or just on the mantlepeice. This one is for a friend though!

Have just started making some bits and bobs for Christmas and thought I would share this little fellow! I have scented him with Christmas spice and he smells divine!!

These are really cool!
What technique(s) did you use to distress the labels?

I painted them with tea then sprinkled coffee granules on top then baked in a low oven until dry!
