1  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 97 ENTRIES / Mini Scene Display Stand on: April 07, 2014 03:54:08 AM

I guess this challenge comes at the correct time! I have been putting off this project time and time again, but this challenge finally gave the extra push that I needed to eventually start and complete this project!

I was planning this tiered display stand out of the need to organize some of the souvenirs I have gathered from overseas. The idea to put some decor in the "supporting" glasses/vases is nothing new, but I thought to push it up a notch by creating a mini scene within the glass and finishing the entire thing with braided yarn. =)

There are 3 "layers" within the mini scene. The pond (polymer clay fish and water plant + resin), the water surface (paper boat) and land (crochet seedling + white colored mini decor stones), and finally the cloud layer which I made out of small pom poms. Smiley
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Fair Isle & Lace Fall Dress on: January 06, 2011 06:39:55 PM
Oh, my. It's been a long time since I last posted on craftster!

Went to Taipei last month to welcome the New Year. Too bad I felt unwell on New Year's day and practically wasted my last day there. LOL.

Anyways, as Taipei temperatures is usually not too cold in the winter (it usually doesn't go below 10 deg celsius), I decided to knit a short sleeves Fall dress from this Rowan Wool Cotton blend. I could always layer another piece of cardi or jacket if it would get too cold. I adapted 2 garnstudio patterns to create this Fall dress:

A closer look (I had a thing for Fair Isle recently.. haha):

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Cherry Red Skinny Cabled Scarf (With pattern chart link) on: January 12, 2008 06:01:05 AM
The lady in my LYS somehow managed to convince me to buy the loudest colored yarn in the Lang Tosca range................... =.= (I did tell her I want it to match my black winter jacket though...)

The scarf

On me...

Close up of the cables

I took a cable pattern from a book of stitch patterns (have totally forgotten the title of the book....! should have noted it down...) and added 2x2 ribbings on each side of the cable.

I've charted the pattern of my scarf on my blog.
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Drops Design 103-6 Cabled top/dress (Updated with more pics on pg 3) on: January 07, 2008 04:56:45 PM
Thought it looked cute on the model, but it is kind of strange on me........ This is my first piece of knitted wearable though...

With an I-cord belt

With a crochet belt

Yup, I added belts as the top on its own doesn't look very flattering on me..... Undecided

A couple more photos (close up of the belt) in my blogCheesy
