321  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Sewing Over Pins on: November 16, 2004 04:42:31 PM
for some reason it's really hard for me to pull them out while i go, without losing control of my work and messing up all my seams. ugh.

so, what's the trick?

I have the same problem, but I just slow down when I get to the pin and hold the seam down with my finger until it's safely sewn.

Same thing here....I used to sew over pins until I got a pin jammed in the machine, which broke the needle, which in turn flew up and hit me in the face.  Now I just pull the pins out as I go along, which really is easier than pulling them out later.  (And I'm sure it's much easier than having a piece of a broken needle removed from your eye!)

Here's mine!  I'm working on a second one now in similar (more masculine) colors.  It's a pretty easy beginning project, but it does get kind of boring after a while.   Wink

I was watching an episode of "Degrassi: The Next Generation" on The N the other day and Emma was wearing few different knit/crochet pieces.  (Sorry for the blurry pics!)

And here's one from "Joan of Arcadia" - you can't tell that well, but Joan is wearing a supercute aqua scarf.

I love Caron's "Simply Soft."  It's...well...soft.  Huh  Not to mention easy to work with and fairly inexpensive.

Those are gorgeous!  I'm amazed at your patience!  Being the impatient type myself (actually, more of the corner-cutting slacker type), I just used spray adhesive to cover a pair of cheap pumps with shiny, sparkly red fabric (1/4 yard).  All in all, it only cost me just under $7 to make a pair of "ruby slippers" to go with my Dorothy costume for Halloween.  They're super sparkly (you can't tell from the picture) and they won't leave a trail of glitter wherever I go.  Yay!

And here they are in action:
