21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / another topic w/ pics...this time a pink tank on: September 11, 2004 07:43:27 PM
I put these flowers on a tank that I had but never wore.  this was also before I found out that standard acrylic craft felt gets crappy in the washer so it is in line for a hand wash.

And a detail shot:
22  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / i made a hat! on: September 11, 2004 07:34:28 PM
I got this knit watch cap pattern from joann.com (just type knit watch cap in the search bar) but the sizing is a bit odd.  this hat I made as a size large and it is too big for everyone I know (and I know some people with big heads).  The hat is quite a bit too tall and a little too big around.  It looks pretty cool though.

And here's my little brother wearing it.
23  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / cool black skirt on: September 11, 2004 07:30:45 PM
a few weeks ago or so I posted a question about which fabric to use for a black skirt to wear for chorus concerts and such...and this is the final project.

Sorry about the dirty mirror...it doesn't look that dirty when there's no flash around.

Please don't mind the mess or awful belly shot.

(in case you couldn't tell, what I did was cut 5 panels that started 7" at the top and were trapezoid shaped with an 8" bottom, then sewed them all together on a 1.5" waistband and my aunt helped me put a zipper in the back)
24  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / knitted and lined bag...i hope it goes here! on: September 11, 2004 07:26:12 PM
Okay so a few months back my school had a craft fair and I made a bunch of these bags.

unfortunately, no one bought any so I have a bunch left.  what do you think?

I'm sorry if the pics are huge...I just got a digital camera and am still getting the hang of it.
25  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / embroidering a tshirt...have many questions on: September 06, 2004 07:02:41 PM
I am wanting to embroider a cute little clipart that I adapted onto this cheapie tee I got at H+M today, but I have a bunch of questions:
-I will be using DMC floss...as long as I wash only in cold water it shouldn't bleed, right?
-since it is a standard knit tshirt fabric, I will need to stabilize. what is the best way to do this? (I will be using a hoop.) Also, when using cut-away stabilizer, do you cut away the whole thing or leave little bits around the embroidery?
-will I need to use interfacing?
-will it be washable? (like will I need to use the delicate cycle or what?)
I am new at this and any advice would be VERY MUCH appreciated.
26  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / oodles of confusion on: August 16, 2004 09:21:29 AM
I have a question!

See, I want to make a black skirt for school dress-up events such as band concerts.  I have found a tutorial that I want to use: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=5822.0 which I am going to modify a bit, but I do not know what kind of fabric to use.  Obviously I am a bit of a newbie at this sewing business, so it can't be anything difficult like satin.  Plus I do not want to use a stretchy fabric.  I would love it if someone could help me out with this.  Thanks a bunch...
27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / does anyone...? on: August 08, 2004 12:44:07 PM
Does anyone have any idea where I can find a clip-art or similar picture of a ribbon (like a bow tie with the two tails hanging off)?  I want to make a stencil for a pink t-shirt to go with a skirt that I am making using a tutorial by EmilyInOrbit.
Help would be greatly appreciated.
28  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / nyc tshirt on: July 29, 2004 01:50:02 PM
i want to make this tshirt...tell me what you think
(please?)

i'll get a cheap greenish-turquoiseish t-shirt (any suggestions for where? preferrably the fitted women's size ones)

then i want to find a silhouette pic of the island of manhattan, like the whole island, not the skyline (again, any suggestions for where i can find something like this online?)

then cut out the silhouette shape and use the left over printer paper as a stencil with bleach pen on the back of the shirt so the silhouette is left in a lighter color

then do the same bleaching thing on the front with caps letters from the computer saying "MANHATTAN"

yall like this?
