11  Owly Apron in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by guacaMolly on: August 31, 2011 08:28:15 AM
Even though I like sewing a lot, I hardly ever post any projects here! This was my first time sewing from a pattern--- something I was previously terrified of, but now I'm wondering why?? It was so easy! I used Simplicity 2626, it was apron C (pictured in the upper left if you're looking at the pattern cover). I didn't use the shoulder ruffle (just hemmed the outer edge), and skipped the pockets altogether per my mom's request.

She just started a store called Owl Make It, so obviously her theme is owls! She's at our local Farmer's Market selling her soap.

Fun, right?? So if anyone likes sewing but is scared of patterns, start with an apron! I made my own double fold bias binding with the little bias tape maker from Clover--- I have the 1" and the 2" and I love them.

I am finally posting pics of the amazing yoga mat bag that DesignVigilante crocheted for me--- which is mind boggling to me, considering I can't finish a crocheted scarf much less follow a pattern and make something like this!

(Please ignore the craptastic carpet and avocado green cabinets.....we're remodeling an ancient house)

The strap is detachable, and can be used as a yoga strap as well! Which is great, because I've needed one. This bag makes storing my mat so much easier, and now I can sign up for a class in the future and have a handy dandy way to take it with me!

DesignVigilante also got me two etsy patterns I've been wanting, I can't thank you enough for an amazing package DV!  Grin

Awesome stuff everyone, wow! Especially love the apron by quaggy and the daffodil set by Dawl--- you guys are insanely awesome, I have no idea how you get so much done!

I received a great package myself a few days ago from missmoppet, she claimed me for an owl-themed hoop for my mom's shop and a surprize for my craft room.

Cheesy She made me a chartreuse water lily, in honor of The Chartreuse Lily and my love of water lilies! I love both of these, the work is fabulous. My mom has hers already, and she was in love with it as well! Couldn't have been more perfect, thank you so much!

Moved from the 69 swap gallery..... whoops! Embarrassed

I received my own package of awesomeness from fishstix on Tuesday, right before we left for St. Louis, which was a huge pick me up!

Leather pieces in all shades of browns and cream, organza bags, magnetic snaps in three colors (I got really excited and opened the silver ones right away  Cheesy) and a whole slew of buttons! Thank you soooo much fishstix!  Grin

So sorry I am late of posting pics of TerraCruz's fantasticly cute package!

She made me this *adorable* letter needle book, and a bunch of neato buttons!

I couldn't get this pic to crop so please excuse my crummy ironing board shot.... but wanted to show the shape of the needlebook, and how she stitched lines and put a little kitty stamp on to make it really look like an envelope!

 Cheesy

Thank you so much Terra, I love it--- sometimes I just carry it around and open and close it. It is the epitome of cuteness, lol

I am so sorry I am late in posting pics of my awesome package from puzzler! She claimed me for handcrafted cards and hangtags, and boy did she deliver!

The whole thing, lots of different hangtags, note cards, cards and tags of all kinds--- and gum, yay! Ever since I quit smoking a few years ago, I love gum and chew it constantly.

Better picture of some of the hangtags, love them!

Closeup of the cards, it looks like she used a lot of handcarved stamps, which I love.

Thank you so much, puzzler!  Smiley

20  Timeless Stoneware and Silk Necklace or Wrap Bracelet in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by guacaMolly on: January 19, 2011 08:45:05 AM
Sooo, this is the first topic I've ever created, even though I've been looking through and swapping on craftster forever. I think it's the first thing I made that came entirely out of my own head that I'm actually proud of in a long time.

The watch face pendant piece I made several months ago, when I was having a clay day with my mom. I don't usually work with ceramics, but my parents have for years aand have a pottery studio with a kiln. After it was fired the first time, I glazed it with a two toned glaze that is kind of gray/brown, and where it pools in the details it's a gray blue. When that dried, I took a damp cloth and rubbed the glaze off in spots, to make it look antiqued, then fired it again.

A few weeks ago I was browsing etsy with some crafting money to spend, and came across the most beautiful collection of recycled sari silk ribbon in all kinds of different colors.

Then today I took a much needed personal day from work, and selected the silks I wanted to use, cut and knotted the necklace. I am really loving the mixed media feel and experience from using such different mediums.

Let me know what you think!  Smiley
