1  A little off-the-cuff... in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by thebuffster on: November 17, 2008 07:14:21 PM
Get it, heh, heh, anyways. I was inspired but a bunch of different things. I liked how it turned out. Thinking of adding a zippered pocket to the inside next time and see how that works...

Did anyone else get that the ribbon formed the shape of a heart...I had to explain it to a couple people which made me think it wasn't obvious enough. Oh well. Live and learn.

2  Cause hours at Disneyland suck right now... in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by thebuffster on: September 03, 2008 09:44:37 PM
...I have time to start sewing again. Woo! In honor of my 2 1/2 years as a Cast Member, I decided to make this shrt. It was super simple, super fun and I really like how it turned out Smiley

The shirt wasn't long enough so I added a strip from another T-shirt at the bottom.

Cut out the back and added grommets. I plan to use a prettier, less see-through ribbon later so I just used what I had...

3  Burda 8316 and my first zipper (w/pics) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by thebuffster on: March 02, 2008 06:41:36 PM
So my first pair of pants. Made them out of a simple linen fabric cause I wasn't sure how well my zipper would turn out and I didn't want to waste too much money. I was getting frustrated trying to decipher how to do the zipper by the wording in the instructions so I said screw it, and just followed the pictures and winged it. It's slightly crooked but oh well. These pants are super comfy though so I might use them as yoga pants or something.

Zipper! Woo!

4  First (completed) project! Yay! (pics!) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by thebuffster on: January 17, 2008 02:10:21 AM
After starting a couple of projects I might have been a little too ambitious for (zippers are the devil) I decided to take a step back and do something super simple. So Voila! Boxers for the bf. Horray for cheap clearance fabric!

I know, I know, half of it is upside down.  But my mom got upset and demanded to know how I got the lines straight. Hell if I know...

Close up of the applique made out of felt. (Felt is fun to sew woo!) I just got the design from my Tokidoki purse, added a little embroidery and I think he turned out quite cute.

5  Re: Crochet Rings in Crochet: Completed Projects by thebuffster on: October 27, 2007 12:10:47 AM
I absolutely had to get over my fear of crocheting on a small scale and try these things and I'm happy to say that it was loads easier than I expected. I did the double base chain that happened to be explained in the new Nov/Dec Crochet Today magazine that I picked up (btw, that magazine is loaded with super cute stuff and I can't wait to get started on the jacket!) and it made the ring much easier than trying to crochet into a chain...Anyways, here's mine. I picked up some super cute mini gingerbread boy buttons so I can make a bunch for Christmas gifts...

6  Re: Nightmare before Christmas- ZERO! (img heavy) NOW WITH LINK TO PATTERN!!!! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by thebuffster on: October 27, 2007 12:03:08 AM
Well I finally finished...have so many projects going for Christmas I don't know what to do with myself. The pattern works wonderfully and it turned out perfect! Thanks again for the pattern. This happy little fellow will spend the rest of his ghostly existence in the Haunted Mansion breakroom, unless I can sneak him into the ride Wink (shhh!)

7  Confused and frustrated... in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by thebuffster on: September 18, 2007 04:59:29 PM
So I'm having a bit of a hiccup here. I've settled with learning how to knit through the internet instead of buying a book like I did crochet and I've come across something that's made me quite frustrated.

1. One site says this:
is what a "knit stitch" should look like
and this:

is what a "purl stitch" should be. However http://www.worldknit.com/ explains them to be opposite. Which is correct.

2. And second, why is it whether I do a "knit stitch" or a "purl stitch", it ALWAYS turns out like this one??

Grr. Learning to crochet wasn't this hard...
