1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Magazine Wristlet on: August 21, 2008 02:31:09 PM
Ok, so I had seen candy wrapper purses online and at craft fairs and always liked them. And then somehow I found some websites that showed how to make them so I went decided to make mine using magazine pages instead of candy wrappers, so I went through a few magazine and ripped out all of the (mostly) black, white or gray pages and ta daa...made a wristlet.

After I cut out all of the pieces to the right size, I covered them with clear packing tape to make the bag water resistant and so that it would be sturdier and last longer. [More info about this on page 3]

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / What do I need to make earrings? on: December 04, 2005 09:36:48 AM
I want to ask Santa for stuff that I would need to make earrings. So my question is what do I need? Obviously I would need the earring part-the fish hook thing. And beads.  But what else?

I want to use chain, but I don't really know what size to tell Santa to get me. Also, if I was to get wire, what gauge would you recommend for earrings? And what kind of pliers to make spirals or my own eyepins or whatnot.

Any help would be great. Or anything else I would need that you could suggest would be really helpful...thanks.
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Adorable hat...from Hip to Crochet on: February 15, 2005 09:19:27 AM
My mom made this hat for me. The hat pattern is in the book, Hip to Crochet, it's the mohair hat, But we didn't use mohair. It also has flowers to attach, but we didn't put the pin backings on yet so you'll have to use your imaginations.

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / First bag and completed project post....hobo jordy-ish on: January 12, 2005 02:15:56 PM
Ok, this is my first bag I made. It's all handsewn and only took two nights. I used the hobo-jordy tutorial only I made mine reversible. I hope the pictures work, haven't done this before. *crosses fingers*

The first picture is the khaki colored side.

This is the bag reversed, in dark blue.

Close up of the strap detail, theres the same thing on the other side too.

And this is a close up of how the bag closes on the blue side.

And this is a close-up of how the bag closes on the khaki side.

I'm so happy how it turned out, especially after all that sewing.  Grin
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Slip Stitch Question on: October 08, 2004 03:35:51 PM
I am making a poncho.  On Row 3 it says to "slip st across 2 sts, ch 3" My question is when I get back to the where the slip stitches are, do I slip stitch over them or double crochet over them?

This is the pattern I am using:

I'm making something out of vinyl, is there a specific kind of thread that I should use? Or can I use the all-purpose stuff? Any help would be great, thanks.
