1  COOKING / Dessert / Girly Pirate Birthday Cake on: August 23, 2009 05:24:08 AM
I know it's not nearly the quality of other cakes we see here, but it was fun to do & and exactly what my DD asked for.  She was THRILLED with the outcome!

Thanks for looking!
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / My Favorite Inchies so far on: March 13, 2009 05:31:55 PM
I just participated in the Inchies Rd2 swap & wanted to share my favorite inchies that I made.  I know they've all shown up in the swap gallery individually, but not in the sets that I made.

Ladies & Gentlemen set

All American set

Childhood set

The colors are a little brighter in the pic than in real life, but you get the idea.
The first one says "tutelary", in case you couldn't read it.

Thanks for letting me share - I hated to part with these sets, but I got some great inchies in return, so I guess it was worth it.  Wink
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / 5yr old's heart craft on: March 01, 2009 06:30:04 PM
Here is a craft that my daughter did for her new dance teacher.  She loves to look at craftster with me, so she begged me to put it on and show it to everyone.

4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Mini Bake Sale on: October 27, 2008 06:06:12 PM
I got inspired over the weekend & created enough desert pieces to have my own mini bake sale.  Here are the best of the best.

Strawberry Cake with Pink Roses

Lemon Merangue Pie

Vanilla Cake

Cupcakes in 2 sizes

And here is my 5yr old DD's contribution to the bake sale.  She cut out the cake layers, helped with the icing & made the "sprinkles" herself.  She & I are both very proud of her first clay food.

5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / first try at a Fairy Door on: October 16, 2008 03:57:56 PM
I've been longing to try a Fairy Door & it actually came out pretty close to the vision in my head. Grin  I want to add some little white flowers & a tiny bell hanging from the door frame, but I have yet to make them come out looking like I imagine they should.

I really love how my "wood" came out.  Can you read the "Welcome" carved into the rock?

Here is an overall view of the scene.  It was my first try using liquid sculpy on the blue in the riverbed.

I know this picture is blurry, but it has a quarter in it for scale.

Comments & constructive criticisms are always welcome.  Thanks for looking!

6  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / my happy accident on: October 16, 2008 03:47:58 PM
I tried making my first cane & wasn't very happy with it, but decided to continue playing with it before smooshing it into the scrap clay pile.  I thought the cheetah looking pattern sheet it made up into was kinda cool, so I wrapped it around some scrap clay hearts & made these for my 14yo niece.
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sweet Tea Towels on: October 02, 2008 08:08:22 PM
These are my first non-framed embroidery projects & I made them for eye_on_sparrow in the Scrapbook/Cookbook swap.  She received today & since I am so pleased with how they turned out, I just had to post them!

8  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Mini Pies (first attempt with clay) on: October 02, 2008 07:36:18 PM
Here are my very first attempts at crafting with polymer clay.  I am actually quite proud of how they turned out, but PLEASE if you have any ideas or suggestions, fire away!  I am always open for ways to make my crafting better.

I will admit that I can be a little OCD, evidenced by me knowing that there are 76 blueberries in this pie.

And...

There are 64 cherries in this pie, underneath the lattice top that I carefully wove to cover the tiny cherry goodness.

My DH came in just before I stuck them in the oven & he looked at me with wide eyes & said, "You mean those are real pies that you have to bake & everything?!?!"
He's not usually so blonde...
9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Fairy & Dream ATC's on: September 08, 2008 07:01:10 PM
Here are my first ever ATC's that I am happy enough with to share with all these massively talented artists on Craftster.  My sis challenged me to do a section of 10 from Selise's Happy 100 challenge (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=159981.msg1610597#msg1610597), so I picked numbers 31-40.  I have to admit I haven't finished this personal challenge yet, but I'm really pleased with my fairy & dream cards.  I've done two more, but they show more of my ironic side & less of my artistic side.

Anyway - on to the pics...

She is holding little flowers in her hand.

I found her amongst some paper that I had liquid starch paint dipped awhile back.  I just added a little definition and glitter & here she is.  I don't care for how the glitter accents on the word Fairy turned out at the top of the card, but she was already glued on when I did it.

Another starch dipped painting that just spoke to me.  I really love the tiny nail art gems to add just a bit of dimension.

Thanks for looking!

10  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 30 ENTRIES / Kindergartener Kozy on: September 01, 2008 01:06:17 PM
I realize my DD is not an inanimate object, but sleeping is as close as she ever comes to being still, so in my crazy mind this project qualifies for the challenge.  I made the Kozy (better known as a sleepmat) for her to take to kindergarten for naptime.

I made it out of an old crib sheet, a recycled jean skirt of mine and a piece of purple fabric I've had laying around for awhile.

She loves it & loves even more that no one else in her class has one like it.

Here it is all rolled up for the trip to school.
