My babe Bane is very ill... he has a kidney tumor and a parasite that attacked him because he's weak... things don't look good and he needs some good wishes from everyone...

This thread just reminded me of a project I did awhile back... I posted it on the pet craft page, but I'm going to repost it here, as its relevant.

Here is a picture of a home I constructed for my ratties a few years back. It was made from a bookcase I bought and assembled. Took about a weekend to complete, and they absolutely loved it. Unfortunately I was unable to completely seal the wood and rat pee soaked in, making the whole thing VERY difficult to clean well.

That said, its very crafty, so I thought I would post.



1. PVC pipe- found at your local hardware store. 
2. Climbing Rope- available at pet stores, check the dog aisle 
3. Ferret Hammock- not just for ferrets! 
4. Bailey Rat- not available anywhere, he's mine!  
5. Ladder Ramp- constructed from thin Aspen wood planks, with smaller Aspen sticks glued on for traction and grip. 
6. Peices of a broken cinderblock- for natural nail filing andfcool sleeping spots during the summer. 
7. Litter Box 
8. Food & Water 
9. Hanging Wall- complete with rat doorways 
10. Nate Rat- Also not available in stores 
11. Carpet Covered Table- constructed from scrap wood, great for climbing & hiding 
12. Tunnel Ramp- available at your local hardware store 
13. Basket of Washcloths- for digging & hiding & sleeping & burying & .... 
14. Scratching Post- also constructed from scrap wood & carpet

Speaking of adorable ears, how about Zack!?  So silly.  I love one dogs have one ear up and one ear down.  Keilo does that occasionally, but only when she's concentrating on a smell or something. 

Haha- thanks, he is a cutie. It gives him great personality, but he makes a horrible guard dog... 80 pounds, German Shepherd, mouth full of teeth... and then the floppy ear.

Who would be scared of this guy? LOL

Kashi in the bathtub, with big brother Zack watching over her- he loves to keep and eye on them and let me know once when Moka snuck out of her cage… basically saving her from getting lost in the walls of the house, or worse stuck outside in the cold.

Okay so I wanted to get into quilting, and so I spent almost a year collecting froggy prints online and at stores, because my "Memere" (french-canadian gma) loved frogs, and since she taught me how to sew, I wanted my first quit to be for her.

Daunted by the prospect of actually quiliting on my tiny machine, I opted to do a tie-style quilt this time around. My squares didnt QUITE match up all the time, but in a stroke of creativity, I decided to finish off each tie with a colorful button... covering each and every mistake perfectly.

Its backed in a very soft, warm green flannel. Without any further ado- here it is!!

I played with it a little in Photoshop... nothing spectacular, but a little bigger and maybe that will help.

Can't stop thinking of this...
