22  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Box fort *pic heavy* on: June 13, 2008 04:33:45 PM
we went on a mission last night at midnight to find boxes and build a fort. after half an hour of searching behind grocery stores and shopping centers, we finally found some in the hospital dumpster. (no, i do not promote dumpster diving at the hospital, it's generally not a GREAT idea, but we needed boxes) we then decided that a local park needed some help. it is nice and all, but just not up to our standards of excellence. so, from the hours of 1-3 am we turned the ocean/boat themed kids playground into  a fort with only cardboard boxes and saran wrap. that's right, no tape, everything is tied together with saran wrap. we called it Hobopolis, and it was a city of peace, progress, and freedom. the people were happy and the land prospered. ok, actually, it looked terrible and we gave up halfway through to wrap ourselves in saran wrap and go swing. but still, i am proud of our work.

the whole thing

we even had an escape pod.

see, tied with saran wrap. that was a pain. we cut holes in the cardboard with keys and used the saran as rope.

we also deconstructed and cleaned up out whole mess so that we wouldn't get in trouble, and so kids couldn't hurt themselves on it. then we went and got donuts. Jesse decided to keep his saran shoes on for this:

we had fun. and got a pretty good work out tying and cutting and moving.

overall, it was a good night.
23  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Dolores Umbridge with Slight SPOILER warning on: June 13, 2008 04:08:07 PM
PRESENTING DOLORES JANE UMBRIDGE FORM THE HARRY POTTER BOOK SERIES:

she is a REALLY late holiday 2007 present for my friend Jesse. She is his least favorite character, and i figured now he can beat her up whenever he wants. Smiley she is the second in my series of harry potter stuffies for friends. however, unlike the ron doll i made, she has no genitalia. she doesn't deserve any cause she's evil. NOTE: the harry potter doll featured in some of these pics was made for me by a friend, and is the inspiration for the other dolls i made. he's AWESOME.

she even has Slytherin's Locket!

harry doesn't like her much

they battle, harry wins <3

he notices the locket, that's not hers!

and then she dies. or faceplants ungracefully, and is very, very embarrassed, whichever is meaner.

thanks for looking!

i will admit, as far as my comic book geek status goes, i am pretty low. i never really got into buying and following comic books, so my comic knowledge is small.  though i assume i would have, if i didn't have the internet. i love webcomics.

i have a friend who keeps trying to get me into heroclix with her. i don't have the money, but it looks fun. Smiley

Pinkie_poh, it is my life's goal too. i have been thwarted the last 3 years by lack of money or family issues, or school.

ONE DAY *gets a far away look in her eyes, and stares out the window*

yeah, but where i live, AX is the only other one coming up and i can't even afford that.

it's lame, yes, but still, it will be good for me to get this school out of the way.

Ok, filled out and sent the questionnaire in. YAY.

my summer plans of going to comic-con in San Diego were thwarted by lack of money and need of summer school and i was SO upset i would have to spend the summer with out that comic-nerd fix, but then i saw this swap and i KNEW i had to do it. i totally makes up for the lack of conventions. in fact, in many ways, it is better.Smiley

YAY so excited!
