1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Various Cute Dresses, Skirts & Tops on: April 12, 2014 11:54:50 AM

One of my most recent dresses, I made this the other week. I designed the fabric myself & had it printed at spoonflower. The heart cut out was a pita to sew, haha, & I accidentally sewed that section of the bodice the wrong way up, so it's not centred on the pattern (but is on the other side, grr!).

This skirt is from a few years ago, just a simple rectangle skirt.

Another handmade skirt.

Another dress with custom printed fabric.

This dress is fully lined, and I made sleeves!

A line skirt made of wool, with (lined) heart shaped pockets!

This is the matching top to the skirt above, but I haven't worn them together for a photo yet.

Another crop top, different style this time though.

All of these pieces were made without patterns, but I did use some existing clothes as references for some. Hope you like them! They were all made over the last few years, I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I'd show you what I've been up to in my time away.
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / ♥ Kitty Ears Headband & Tutorial on: September 13, 2012 05:56:34 AM

I saw some similar ears on ASOS & used them for inspiration to make these, saving myself 12. I shared the tut on my blog earlier, but thought some of you here might be interested too. Pic below is of me wearing a purple diamante pair I made the other day, sorry the pic isn't clearer, didn't get any good closeups!

TUTORIAL

Step One - Gather all your supplies, as pictured above. I would recommend the ribbon to be about 10mm wide, but it's really up to you. I used basic satin ribbon, but you can use pretty much any type. The decorations can also be pretty much anything, not just pearls, but diamantes, flower cabochons, tiny buttons, funky beads, anything you like.

Step 2 - Cut a length of wire about 20cm long. Wrap around your headband where you want the ears to start, as pictured.

Step 3 - After wrapping, bend the wire into a basic kitty ear shape, & then secure at the other end by wrapping it around the headband again.

Step 4 - Repeat on other side.

Step 5 - If your wire is quite thin, you might want to consider repeating the last 2 steps & adding a second layer of wire over the top of your kitty ear, just to strengthen it.

Step 6 - Now cut a length of ribbon, approximately 30 cm or so, & glue the end to the start of the wire. Then wrap around the headband & up onto the "ear" wire, glueing to secure as you go along.

Step 7 - Keep going until you have completely covered all the wire. Repeat for other ear.Remember to keep glueing the ribbon down as you wrap, or it will unravel!

Step 8 - Cut 2 little lengths of ribbon, about 6cm long, & glue over the ends of the headband.

Step 9 - Now gather a long bit of ribbon, around a metre, & glue to the end of your headband. Then start wrapping, covering the entire headband base. Glue the ribbon down as you go.

You should have something that looks like this when you are done!

Step 10 - The fun part! Glue your decorations onto the ear sections. I used 18 pearls & spaced them out along the wire, but you could completely cover them if you wanted. Or alternate diamantes and pearls, etc etc!

Done! Hope that was helpful to some of you, & do ask if there's anything I haven't made clear!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Cute Headbands on: June 22, 2012 01:04:25 PM

Wasn't sure exactly where to post these, thought this board might be the best fit, but if it's wrong please do move it! Anyway, I've been making a lot of headband lately, so thought I'd share them with you all! They are all handwrapped with ribbon & then decorate with various cute things! What do you think?

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Lolita Clothing Swap? on: June 19, 2011 02:07:09 PM
Hi everyone:)

I really want to organize a Lolita clothing swap, where swappers would craft at least 1 item of clothing, like a skirt, blouse, or dress, along with a few accessories. What do people think, would there be any takers?

I was in a lolita swap a while ago here on Craftster, & I think only 1 or 2 girls made actual clothes, most just did accessories, so I thought a clothing specific swap would be a good idea, especially as handmade lolita clothes can be hard to find. I think also including 1 or 2 accessories as well as 1 item of clothing would also be a nice way to finish off the package. Possibly these could be store bought (i.e cute tights or socks, or kawaii jewellery)

Opinions?
8  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Strawberry Dress, & Puppy Skirt, ft Spoonflower fabric on: June 18, 2011 12:46:33 PM

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd show you what I've made over the last month, firstly this strawberry print dress.

Secondly, I made this skirt with fabric I designed from Spoonflower. I ordered the fabric in the basic quilting cotton, & it is pretty good, a bit thin (so I did line the skirt), but the print turned out great!

Sorry I don't have the greatest angles/close ups, these photos were taken primarily for my blog Smiley Constructive critiscm welcome!

Oh & I didn't use a pattern for either of these, , just sort of made it up as I went along, but they were pretty simple Smiley
