Here's a new necklace I've made for a friend of a friend. Hoping she likes it, I've adjusted some of my materials from my earlier 'prototypes' bc the headpins didn't work as well for the hanging cluster, so I've switched to wire and that worked nicely with headpins on the side to make them stick out.
Also, I need a name for this peice as it's not just a personal collection or gift item- how do you go about naming your stuff???
Ok so I saw the pendant made earlier and followed the link to the tutorial. I think this will be perfect for my mom's birthday. So here it is...
I've wrapped the silver ring in brown wire and have wrapped a gold jump ring in the brown wire and used a dark copper colour chain and lobster claw as suggested earlier, simple stuff to focus on the pendant. I'm hoping to make more and get better at it, even after adding a 5th strand my tree doesn't look very full to me. I also need to work on my 'weaving'. Any suggestions and comments for future pendants will be much appreciated.
I made this watch for my mother-in-law's birthday tomorrow. I've chosen the colours she wears all the time in the turquoise rose beads and then tried to draw out the individual colours with the other beads. I'm not in love with it but I'm hoping she likes it, it's not exactly my taste but I'm not a huge fan of 'decorated' beads, so I'm wondering if that's my issue rather than the way it looks as it's own piece (does that make sense, I know what I mean- do I not like it because it's ugly or just bc it's not my taste...that's better). Please be honest xx
Well... Here's my attempt for tonight... several hours and bead patterns later I settled on this, chunkier than yours but should go nicely with my big shell pendant necklace with interchangeable seed bead strands...
It's inspired from Beadstyle Mag (I love this mag and so far have gotten several ideas from there)
Their idea was interchangeable seed bead chains on a pendant. I'm short on seed beads of a light coloured variety (mostly dark blues and browns) So I have a huge pendant and this seemed perfect with it because I can get some more seed beads and small glass beads and dress it up or leave it more fun and fancy free like it is now with the more casual 'seaside inspired' beads/stone chips/pearls.
The interchangeable strands are easy to make. A jump ring and crimp bead at each end. Then you clip those onto a lobster clasp on each side, use a jump ring to connect the two lobster clasps to a magnetic clasp or another lobster if you wanted.
Hi! I've been beading for only 4 weeks and took a beading class (level 1 mostly fixing clasps and basic earrings) about 6 or 7 weeks ago. I'm absolutely addicted!!! Here are my projects so far- some have been gifts and others are just for me
My first original creation, made for my best friend and my favourite
A variation of it for my mom...
A variation for me
Some other stuff I've made
Please feel free to ask any questions, although they are very basic projects, compared to so many of the nice things on this site
