And here is the other LV i'm hosting! He/she does not have a name yet though, so skittlebub you'll have to think of one!! I asked my sister to look for an adorable monkey/giraffe for my lovely new partner and this is who she returned with! To give her credit the tag DOES say it's a monkey. Perhaps even a monkey/giraffe (moose?) hybrid! Hopefully they will be a welcome editiion to your family, skittlebub!

*NEW FRIENDS!!*

In between the craziness that is my life right now, Alfred has become an honorary Girl Guide. A huge honor since boys are not usually part of the movement! Tongue

Last week we went with my Brownie Guides to sell daffodils and merchandise for Daffodil Day. We ended up raising $2400 for the Cancer Council!!

Here is Alfred wearing a Girl Scout jumper and his special Daffodil Day pin. Sadly he was only able to borrow the jumper but he gets to take the pin home! Smiley

There are many (better) photos which i'm saving for the scrapbook Smiley

Love the photo of the "hill" in Florida~ LOL!!
and Congrats on your grandmother's 95th birthday. WOW!!

My lovely card from cabaute!

Theme: circus
Card: Strength VIII

Please post a better photo if you have one. My Mac's iphoto has an error and will not open so I had to take another photo in photobooth. The quality isn't very good as you can see.

The colours are a lot more vivid and the entire thing is sealed with something that makes it glossy. The famous modpodge everyone always seems to talk about?

Thank you!!

Well, it's quite the rainy day today! Huge thunderstorms all day long here in normally sunny Florida! Gus wanted to go outside and watch the weather but I told him not without some sort of rain gear. He's not getting a cold on his vacation during my watch! I didn't have any umbrellas his size, so I fashioned him a quickie rain poncho instead.

That photo of Gus is possibly the cutest thing I have ever seen!!

This photo isn't nearly as charming but it does show the AMAZING time Alfred and I had at Mary Poppins!

And of course I couldn't resist the flat-Poppins and had to get her to add to my collection of Disney roadkill plushiesCheesy Cheesy

9  Ongoing Tarot swap - August 2011 (SIGN UP/CLAIM until August 31st) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by beckashell on: August 09, 2011 08:36:35 PM
The ongoing tarot card swap - August 2011!!

Welcome!! This is a simple and easy swap, with your level of participation determined entirely by you.   Smiley

The tarot cards you make must be 4x6 inches. It is assumed that we are all using the Universal Rider-Waite deck for card meanings/symbolism - unless you specify differently in your personal preferences on your claim post.

A regular size greeting card envelope should be big enough to fit your card but be sure to put it in between some thicker pieces of card stock or cardboard so that it doesn't get ruined during the shipping process (remember the extra weight may change the shipping price slightly).

Please put your 'artist info' on the card. Twenty years from now we want to know who made such a beautiful card!

Discussion thread: Questions and discussion can be posted here.

Current Gallery: post photos of your received tarot cards here!

July Gallery: look at the tarot cards made last round.

*Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join this swap!  Sign-ups are open until the end of August--YAY!  PM me the above questionnaire to get started, and please wait to be accepted into the swap before making any claims.  Please make sure you are not late or flakey in any of your other swaps.*

HOW THIS SWAP WORKS:

Claims are made throughout the signup/claim period of the swap.  You have two weeks from the time you make a claim to send that claim.

You can make as many (or as few) claims as you want throughout the month as long as you never go over your allowed amount of outstanding claims. (An outstanding claim is a card that has not been received; when that card is received your number of outstanding claims goes down leaving you open to bring it back up to 5 or 8.)

Posting QUALITY photos of received tarot cards is a requirement of this swap.  Smiley

CLAIMING

1. Claims are made using the following procedure:

Person A (the swap organizer) will begin the swap by posting a list of themes in this swap thread.
Person B will choose a theme from one of A's themes and make a claim by posting his/her own list (see below for formatting of post).
Person C will make a claim on one of B's themes and post his/her own list.
Person D will make a claim on one of C's themes and post his/her own list etc...
This continues through the end of the month, when the swap organizer makes the final claim and closes out the claiming part of the swap.

2. How many claims can be made by each individual:

The number of claims each person is allowed depends on the following criteria:
*Friends of Craftster: 8 claims
*Those who aren't Friends of Craftster: 5 claims
*First time swappers (whether Friends of Craftster or not): 1 claim.  Once the initial claim has been sent, and its new owner has reported it received, the first time swapper is free to make more claims, either 5 or 8 dependent on being an FOC or not.

3. How to make a claim:

A claim post should include the following information:
1. The theme you are choosing and who youre sending it to.
2. Statistical info about your current swap claims status:
  • Claims = Claims currently outstanding (ie., how many not yet received by their new owners.) (This number goes down each time a claim is received, and up each time you make a claim.)
  • Sent = anything currently in the mail.
  • Received = the cards received by the people you've sent them to.
3. Your location.
4. Your personal preferences.
5. Your list of themes

SAMPLE CLAIMS POST:

Quote
Quote
I claim RandomCraftsterMemb er for heffalumps/weasels tarot card.

3 claims, 2 sent, 1 received

I live in Massachusetts, USA.  I would prefer not to receive anything violent, political, or religious.

My themes are:
1)   sneezing
2)   purple people eaters
3)   wandering men of grief
4)   jumping jehosophats
5)   birds in hats

ONCE YOU HAVE MADE A CLAIM:

1. Send a personal message to the person you have claimed and request their address
2. You have 2 weeks to complete each card, and have it in the mail to its new owner.  Smiley

ONCE YOU HAVE SENT OR RECEIVED A CARD
1. Please PM the organizer when you send or receive a card.  (It's also good to notify the person you received from or are sending to.)
2.  Label the message as Ongoing Tarot Card swap August--Sent or Ongoing Tarot Card Swap August--Received (or some variant of that)
3.  Be sure and include (1) the "send by" date, as well as (2) the theme and (3) who sent it to (4) whom, in each email to the tarot card swap organizer, when you're referring to sent or received tarot cards.  That's four pieces of important information that make my life as a swap organizer OH so easy!

For example, you could use this format:
Quote
Quote
I sent some tarot cards today!

Send by 12/16:
beckashell ---> randomswapper = fantasy theme

Send by 12/17:
beckashell ---> craftstermember = nature theme
beckashell ---> tarotfan101 = yet another fascinating theme

PLEASE REMEMBER TO INCLUDE THIS IN EVERY PM!

This lets the organizer easily access the swap info, so it can be updated.

POSTING PHOTOS OF TAROT CARDS RECEIVED
It is OH so important to post pictures of the amazing cards you receive!  This is the best way in the world to let it be known how special it is that you've received a wonderful treasure of someone else's creativity!

Please post pictures/scans of your received cards in the gallery (or make arrangements with your partner to do so).

FEEDBACK
Positive feedback will be given when all of the tarot cards you sent have been received.   Good communication is always cool!  And be sure and post those pictures in the gallery!

ANY QUESTIONS?
If you have any questions please post them in the discussion thread or PM the organizer.  This thread is specifically for claims only.

Thanks to the lovely people that have organized past ATC swaps for allowing me to adapt your amazing "about claiming" post!

I haven't chosen a winner of the photos from CHALLENGE 6: Architectural Detail yet, so late entries are still being accepted!

But here is number 7 for those of you that are keeping up! An easy one this week!
