11  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / You all are so inspiring! on: July 17, 2007 05:43:35 AM
I just joined and now all I can think about is sewing!! I went and got an old housecoat [think old lady shuffling around the house] from the Salvation Army and I am turning it into a dress. It has an awesome pink lacy trim. I'll post it when I am done. But anyway I just wanted to tell you all that you're very talented and I love this community and I am so glad I found it! I thank mt friend Prissy for showing it to me!
12  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Ladie's tank top to A-line halter dress recon. on: July 15, 2007 04:58:56 PM
I REALLY wanted to make the men's button down shirt recon today but Goodwill was closed... So... I went to a schlock shop and got a really pretty ladies tank top and made it into a dress. Not bad for $5.99! Don't ask me why there is a pear on a shirt that has stars all over it but I like pears AND stars so whatever..

This is the shirt brand new

I un-stitched the straps from the back of the shirt so the straps could function as halter top ties. Then I un-stitched the seam binding and snipped the top because it was wide for a woman and I only needed it 5" wide for my daughter's chest

Then I made the shirt A-line by just sewing at an angle on both sides from under her arms to almost the bottom.

This is my drooly 2 year old daughter modeling it for me Smiley (2 year molars coming in)

This is it all laid out, finished.
13  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Need input -- I feel like this top needs something on: July 15, 2007 07:30:47 AM
I made my daughter this 2 piece outfit. I plan on putting two half circle pockets on the top with ruffle around the opening but I feel like the hemline needs a ruffle. My husband disagrees.

What do you think, does it need a ruffle to match the bottom edge of the shorts?

Thanks for your input,
Jenn
